Hmmm.. G350d is considerably more expensive here than a 110 D240 SE here.. about £96,000 bare starting price for a G-Class, and £56,000 for the LR - though the LR in the video appears to be a 'First Edition' so it's closer to £60,000. Still a big price gap though, even the Defender X would be cheaper and might have done a little better off-road.

edit: fixed Typo.

It's like comparison an Omega Seamaster against a Rolex Dayton, isn't it?

The G-Class owners will likely also own the Defender but not the other way around. Even the prices of used G350d are eye watering.

The G Class is for criminals and wanabe cool guys. The Landie is for posers. When it gets really tough, they all pull the Landcruiser out.

The secret weapon the G-class has over most cars in extreme conditions is the brilliant traction provided by the triple diff locks. Most other cars use traction or stability control to brake the spinning wheels to provide some traction, but the G-class doesnt even need traction control to be activated at all. The car moves forward with hardly any wheelspin as all the wheels movement is synchronized together with the mechanical diff locks.

The other weapon the G-class has it is excellent suspension travel, which in many conditions will not leave wheels spinning in the air and the wheels can make contact even in deep holes.

There are also some negatives, the G-class doesnt have a good breakover angle like the Defender and its ground clearance is also less than the Defenders.

Here is another interesting comparison with G-class and Jimny.

In this test, the Toyota Landcruiser Prado proves that an expertly set up crawl function on its ESP system can come close to matching the triple diff locks of the Wrangler and G-class.

Right to the moment an elk pulls out in front of them and then they see everything upside down.
