After decades of attending the the show, I've concluded that NYIAS is an auto show featuring debuts important to the Northeast U.S market. The "international" part is what attracts foreign press.
My biggest new car highlight wasn't at the show itself.. I got a preview of the mopf (facelift) S-Class at another location. The front of the AMG packet is identical to the E-Class. It's nice but the prefacelift AMG sport bumper was perfect, imo. Change for the sake of change. Interior changes aside from the updated infotainment is very minimal, which is a good thing.
I toured some stands with infamous supercar collector "BC". He's down to earth and for someone who owns the most exclusive cars; he has geniune interest in all kinds of cars.
Every year Audi showcases numerous R8s on press days to compensate for no new reveals.
Horrible combination
BC actually had interest in the R8
I wasn't expecting to see a S5 Sportback in the states. Handsome looking saloon
RS5 - Honestly the S5 looks better. It's missing the flared arches of the first generation.
Alfa Romeo
Lexus - Their design language is just not for me.
The interior quality of the LC is just impeccable. I felt like ex VW CEO Winterkorn inspecting all the surfaces. Even the door sill is surrounded by leather. Rear legroom is nonexistent.
