Pictures NYIAS 2017

After decades of attending the the show, I've concluded that NYIAS is an auto show featuring debuts important to the Northeast U.S market. The "international" part is what attracts foreign press.

My biggest new car highlight wasn't at the show itself.. I got a preview of the mopf (facelift) S-Class at another location. The front of the AMG packet is identical to the E-Class. It's nice but the prefacelift AMG sport bumper was perfect, imo. Change for the sake of change. Interior changes aside from the updated infotainment is very minimal, which is a good thing.

I toured some stands with infamous supercar collector "BC". He's down to earth and for someone who owns the most exclusive cars; he has geniune interest in all kinds of cars.

Every year Audi showcases numerous R8s on press days to compensate for no new reveals.

RS5 - Honestly the S5 looks better. It's missing the flared arches of the first generation.

The interior quality of the LC is just impeccable. I felt like ex VW CEO Winterkorn inspecting all the surfaces. Even the door sill is surrounded by leather. Rear legroom is nonexistent.

The Mercedes (AMG) stand always attracts the most attention with the most elaborate lineup and over-the-top debuts.

The AMG GT C is drop dead gorgeous. It’s as if it was destined to be a convertible rather than a coupe. The GT R is also a sight to behold; aggressive.

The AMG GT Concept looks terrific in the flesh, though I’m not sold on the rear 3/4. I took a close look at the interior and discovered it’s an E63 interior.

The Chiron is just visually arresting; really a sight to behold. I took a closer look at the U.S bumperette and discovered that it is connected using two screws. One of the dealer representatives hinted it can be removed after inspections.

Range Rover... by far the best looking SUV lineup. Craftmanship on the full size SV Autobiography is top-notch thanks to incremental upgrades every model year.

As much as I dislike large truck-based SUVs, I must admit the (finally) all-new Navigator is the best executed - literally the concept without silling gullwings. It has the nicest interior of any American car

It looks very similar in size, format and the cars that are displayed to Geneva Motor Show, sooo wish I could be there right now...Thank you so much for this contribution, @sako97

Ugh, there's always something missing at NYIAS.
Really wanted to see the 720S and not have to schlep it to CT to see one.

Where exactly in CT do they have the 720S anyway (Greenwich, I'd imagine) ? Might be worth a ride over the weekend if it is not awfully far away

Thanks for uploading all the photos and sharing your thoughts with us @sako97, the NYIAS is full of eye candy, but that Chiron, what a machine. Also what do you think of that Maybach convertible?

My favorite GT is the S Coupé/Cabrio, but honestly the S650 is a weak special edition for $300k. Wheels aren't nice. The use of both the luxury and the AMG lower side bumper doesn't flow.

Though not as exclusive, the S63 AMG is far more attractive and quicker.
