[Not So] Random Thoughts...

I'm sorry for your loss. Not that it's any consolation but I know how you feel. It's rough. Time heals, somewhat.

I do too. Miss my dad a lot. But like you say, time heals. Well it doesn't quite heal, but makes things appear from another life.

I just wanted to talk to him from time to time, he was the ground wire, the voice of experience, protective and almost the only one without an agenda, just wisdom united with kindness directed at his sons

Regarding personal loss, time sometimes heals, but like most things that heal, it's that it's vulnerable to open back up again, even from the most innocuous incident. May their memories be a blessing and seek help from those you feel trust and closeness when it sometimes feels overwhelming as there's no shame in that. Take care....

Our police force needs fixing. Not exactly sure how to do it without a firing squad though.

The independent panel reported last year, eight years after it was set up to probe the Met's handling of the case, and damned the force as "institutionally corrupt" and accused Dame Cressida of holding up its inquiry.

We have an unelected, unremovable head of state. If we didn't speak English the world would pity us.

We have the same unelected head of state in NZ, to be fair I’d rather have her than whatever political mongrel who would want the job. With Liz there is no perception of political bias, she above the fray. The US is a great example of democracy, the last guy was bonkers, lost the popular vote yet still got the job, the current guy is far too old, frail and appears to suffer from dementia. I don’t see the US getting any better next election either.

May her majesty Queen Elizabeth II Rest In Peace and my condolences to the British people.

Anne was by a country mile the best of them - and the son her father never had. She would have made a great queen, leader.

The authorities are in total panic over one small woman, and the power of the human spirit. Middle England, real England, and Scotland, so proud of Bowes-Lyon, have come out and shown their face, and force. The authorities, are now saying 'stay away!'. You will be frisked, molested, kept waiting like a dog, no facilities, for half a day or more - impossible for older people - to wait to pay your respect to that small, dead woman, who is now the point for what is a revolt, against what England/UK has become - 'Global Inc', a godless dystopian nightmarish shithole, with no values, except greed and me-first, and anyone from any corner of the world able to call themselves British.

Amazing for years that the Tour de France could relay shots from a helicopter in the deepest valleys, highest mountains, but in 2022 the BBC, Sky et al, struggled to provide anything clearer than mud, for the Queen's travel from Balmoral to Edinburgh.

They did not want us to see the hideously white crowds - huge crowds, of totally respectful people.

They know this will snowball. If Edinburgh was uncomfortable for them, wait until London. Half the country, the real country, will make its way there, to pay its respect, to an amazing person.

They must stop this. This is Diana, 1997, x10, x100.

Most will ignore their horrible, barely concealed threats and intimidation.

This is England's, Scotland's last chance, before any notion of these places as countries, races of people, and their cultures and values are gone, for obvious reasons.

Of all the shit you post, I'm genuinely surprised you've not "blown a fuse"™ over this...

Woman arrested for showing a "F*ck Imperialism, Abolish Monarchy" sign... that doesn't worry you enough to rant about? Are you too lazy to work this in to your narrative, or did Zerohedge not spoon feed you an opinion on this?

The 'f*ck' got her arrested. Believe it or not, swearing in public is an offence. If a cop hears you swearing they can arrest you, you will usually get a warning first. One of the photos on the link shows the polite warning she got first. 'f#ck' is even censored on this forum for instance.

"f#ck" alone doesn't constitute hate speech and off the top of my head, the Royals aren't protected groups... so I'm curious as to why "f#ck" alone is an offence... not saying you're wrong, but even with our policing and hate speech bills I'd be surprised if that would ever stick.

'f#ck' is even censored on this forum for instance.

This isn't even remotely comparable to being arrested for saying "f#ck Monarchy", please tell me you don't think it is ?!

It's not hate speech she was likely arrested for, it was for a public order offence. That would be my guess anyway. Swearing is a public order offence. Seems pedantic but if we put age certificates on films and video games due to the word being used, and censor it on family forums, it makes little sense to allow it in public, especially at public events.

Actually it is for the reasons mentioned above. Graphic content and swear words are censored on this forum for the same reason they're censored in public, cinema and video games. The way they see it, children are likely to be present. It's the f-word alone that got here arrested, if she'd replaced it with 'end' she likely wouldn't have been arrested, or at least she could sue for wrongful arrest if she was.

Again, I'm not saying you're wrong, but the equivalency doesn't hold up. Agreed standards that are upheld by the likes of the BBFC are simply not applied individual speech in a public place. I'm actually not even sure of the extent of their powers in what they do do, since a lot of the wording is targeted at commercial distributors of media - but not most social media (nor websites that aren't primarily porn). Censorship bodies have the power to bring a prosecution against people that contravene the laws they're responsible for - that doesn't cover individual speech in public. Media censorship and freedom of speech are two different things.

I'd counter it's not the F-word alone here that got her arrested. In itself it's not an offence to say f#ck in public, it's the context that decides what offence has occurred. At this point if comes down the police officers discretion. It's fairly clear that the use of the word f#ck was enough of an excuse on this occasion, but I think it would be naive to think it was the sole reason... this person did not say f#ck...

The short version is that passing laws to allow the removal of peoples freedom for criticising the institutions that pass laws is dangerous. I'm not liberal enough to think the right to protest should be universally upheld no matter the cause or outcome - gluing yourself to a train to get the government to insulate peoples lofts is mental, flying drones through/around some of the worlds busiest airports is flat out dangerous - protesting the affliction of an unelected head-of-state who effectively gets to decide what your liberties and rights are, should be upheld. It's part of the circular erosion of our rights.

Look, I don't live in the UK but my wife's side of the family are all based there. So, I've been there a lot. Enough times to know that the amount of public, casual conversation dropping of the F-bomb is so common that sure as hell no one ever gets arrested for swearing in public. London, Manchester, Newcastle, wherever, swearing in the street doesn't bat an eyelid.
