Summary.

. BMW feels, thanks to expansion into lower vehicle classes and the i cars, that it will be able to meet the 2020 EU directive that dictates a fleet-average emmision output of 95 grams of CO₂ per kilometre or lower. However, once again he states that the proposed 2025 target of 68-78 grams is utterly unfeasible.

. The 3-cylinder engines ( B37 and B38 ) will not feature in the current 3 Series, possibly the next generation, but he is sceptical of that also.

. When asked about the consequences of the i cars unfulfilling their sales targets, he responds that the U.S. EV market is well-developed, China and Germany have potential for sales growth.
. Regarding the BMW-Toyota joint sports car, he says both a classic sports car and one that would advance their position in lightweight technology and electrification are being considered by the brands, whilst also commenting that the market for the former is shrinking.
. " Would this be a mid-engine sports car above or below the i8? "
" I do not want to reveal too much, but in my vision it would be a vehicle from which one could derive several models that are much lighter and electrified. "
. Regarding Z4's replacement, if the Z4 is succeeded, it could utilise a new sports architecture from BMW.
. He confirms the 7-seater production Active Tourer, and says that it will be different in design to the standard vehicle, particularly at the rear.
