Nissan Develops New Generation V6 Engines - 306 hp

In April, Nissan unveiled the 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan to the public, but did not provide specific details about the car's engine. At the time, the automaker said it would simply feature the next-generation VQ-series 3.5-liter DOHC V6. Infiniti has since confirmed the engine will have 306 horsepower as certified by the new SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards. Power should be considerably greater than that of the previous non-SAE 280 horsepower engine.

It's also worth pointing out that the next-generation coupe — based on the Infiniti Coupe Concept — will not be sold as a 2007 model, but rather as a 2008. Infiniti lists the 2007 G35 Coupe with identical specs to the 2006 model. There is some speculation that the 2008 coupe will go by the name of Infiniti G37, and offer slightly more displacement and power than the sedan. The G37 trademark was registered by Nissan in January.

... seems like 306 is a magic number these days!? :D

Re: New 2007 Infiniti G35 to 306 hp!

I wouldn't be surprised if the old 'magic number' of 276hp/280PS was just what they put on it - Japan's "gentleman's agreement" power limit. Maybe it made this much all along. Then again, Australia's version of the 350Z with the same engine makes 206kW (ie that 276hp number) in auto form, but 221kW - 296hp - in manual. It's not a big stretch to get to 306hp.
