Hot! News and rumors about Alpina

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
I remember seeing an article about it in BMWCar a long time ago, there was a picture, but I think it was just a 'shop.

The R53 Cooper S was and still remains one of the best cars post-millennium. I know someone who picked up a rare liquid yellow on white Cooper S on white original alloys and sliding roof. For a few thousand euro high km but well loved and looked after and not bastardised by the aftermarket.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know of an Alpina modified Mini.

The Goodwood (Rolls Royce) trimmed MINIS from the next gen model are a lot nicer IMO

There is a huuuuuge gap between BMW and Rolls Royce. Alpina can fill that, and it can do so much profitably than RR because underpinnings can be extensively shared with BMW models.

"graceful, elegant performance of the highest order" should be niche that ALPINA continues to pursue in its new chapter of cooperation directly under the BMW AG umbrella. Visually embodied by the virtues of clean, unadorned sculpturing, top notch proportions and stance. At least as potent as rival AMG products but more subtle in appearance. And the possibility to increase oppulence without resorting to some of the tacky shtick sometimes exercised by Maybach. Dedicated ALPINA vehicles ? Perhaps a very sleek, 5er sized 4 door shooting brake-like estate and that general recipe also being applied to an iX5 sort of sport utility crossover.

The Skytop could have been an Alpina. Future Alpina cars could be similar. ICE engines that people love like the S58, B58 and S63, rolls Royce leather, parts bin interior with physical switch gear that people know and love, reskinned interior = Boom! Zagato by BMW.

Nice video, a very good documentary with some anecdotes, in addition to it being about a V8 in an e36, which I didn't know existed, also a short story about the purchase deal of the brand by BMW.

Hartge also put a v8 into this model, and a V10 in the E90

As an FYI Jaguar designed the XJ40 so it couldn't fit a V configuration engine, they were worried BL would make them use the Rover V8, Ardern and Lister both built V12 XJ40's.

The Alpina brand has officially become part of the BMW Group portfolio a few hours ago, but patience is certainly required before the first new vehicles arrive.

I find this exciting. I'm also confident that this will work out well and am looking forward to the presentation of the first NKL influenced products.

LOL.

Call me when the first Missoni-supervised design ALPINAs are ready for presentation. Probably another 2-3 years, I imagine.
It seems that earlier, according to today's Bimmertoday info.

"However, European enthusiasts of exclusive automobiles with connections to Buchloe should expect some news at another major concours event in the first half of the year."

I understand (I've read it somewhere) that the new 7 Series Alpina will be presented at the end of 2026 and the X7 Alpina in 2027.

Perhaps. But I am referring to the genuinely brand new BMW and ALPINA vehicles designed under Missoni's supervision. As the successors to the current G70 7er and G60/61 5er are quite some years away, perhaps some sort of bespoke bodied, very limited production future, NKL-based ALPINA vehicle could be an interesting precursor. An approx. 5000mm long and under 1450mm tall 4 door shooting brake configuration could provide an interesting canvas, for example.
