New York State moves to ban spinner wheels

Just as spinner wheels start to come off customized cars, the New York State Senate Transportation Committee has decided that it is time to ban them. It's difficult to understand why the bill is gaining traction with no known associated risks to drivers. It's not like cars are slamming into one another because awe-struck onlookers are failing to pay attention to intersections while the Escalade's 24's go round and round. This screams of hypocrisy. You can get hubcaps with advertisements on them. Talk about distracting! What about those naked lady mud flaps on all those big rigs? A couple of times I've seen pickup trucks with male body parts dangling from the rear bumper. I wonder how many people have rear-ended someone while trying to read the latest 'my kid beat up your honor roll student' bumper sticker. The list goes on.

SEMA is stepping up to defend the rights of customizers everywhere by lending its powerful voice in opposition to Bill 1640, which calls for fines of $750 for the the third violation and beyond. In the annals of automotive history, this bill could never be the reason for the demise of the spinner wheel. That decisive blow came when the first set of K-Mart spinner hubcaps when on sale.

That's the dumbest sh!t I've ever heard!! I wish you never posted this bullsh!t, with all the cramp going on in the US your telling me they had enough time to vote on a bill about spinning rims?!

P.S I'm sorry for my tone! Damn that I'm not sorry, I'm mad as a MOTHER!!

There are a few accidents in US cause by spinner wheels but really they are caued by idiots. People blame the wheels for the accidents because drivers of other cars cannot judge how fast the car with spinner wheels are travelling. Some drivers on the road didn't realise the cars with spinner wheels are stationary and crash into them.:t-crazy2: This is what i heard anyway.

^lol those ppl who crash into stationary cars with spinners need to get their licence take away
Reason: Retardness :D

Who looks at another car's wheels to judge if a car is moving? :t-crazy2: If you can't tell that the vehicle itself isn't moving, then you shouldn't be on the road.

I'm pissed about this Law but I'm not gonna lie, The first time I saw spinning rims I was coming off a red light and as I entered the intersection I saw a Escalade with spinners on it and slammed on the brakes. But that was like 10 years ago, I highly doubt that people aren't used to them by now!:)

New York also banned cellphones to be used when crossing the road. Things are getting strict over there... I wonder why.

You guys are making too big a deal out of this, there are many stupid state laws. For example, in my state of Nebraska it is illegal for bar owners to sell beer unless they are simultaneously brewing a kettle of soup, also it is illeagal to go whale fishing, may I remind you Nebraska is in the middle of the f'n country!

LOL! Jeff, i've only said that HATE the spinners and if i had the power, i'd completely forbid the production of it! Laws for that? Couldn't care less...

:t-cheers:

Hey, it's not just the U.S.... here in Finland, the parliament passed an ordinance law which prohibits riding an ostrich or a llama on the sidewalk. ;)
