Model 3 New Tesla 2024 Model 3 brings restyle!

The Tesla Model 3 is a battery electric powered mid-size sedan with a fastback body style built by Tesla, Inc., introduced in 2017. The vehicle is marketed as being more affordable to more people than previous models made by Tesla. The Model 3 was the world's top-selling plug-in electric car for three years, from 2018 to 2020, before the Tesla Model Y, a crossover SUV based on the Model 3 chassis, took the top spot. In June 2021, the Model 3 became the first electric car to pass global sales of 1 million.

1 September 2023

The Tesla Model 3, one of the world's best-selling electric cars, has been substantially updated for 2024 - bringing more range, improved refinement and a new look.

Tesla claims that more than 50% of the Model 3's components have been refreshed in response to customer feedback, with the ultimate aim of improving refinement and comfort.

Known by its internal codename, 'Project Highland', the updated Model 3 has been the subject of much speculation since the first clues were announced in late 2022. Since then, a series of leaked images and camouflaged prototypes have given hints about the final design, but Tesla characteristically refrained from giving away any official details until now.

As suggested by widely circulated pictures of an undisguised car earlier this year, the most obvious change for the 2024 Model 3 is its heavily overhauled front end, which is said to reduce drag in pursuit of more miles per charge, while reducing wind noise at a cruise.

Tesla emphasises that it is "staying true to the sleek, uncluttered design aesthetic" of the Model 3, and indeed the new-shape headlights and revised lower bumper are the most significant visual changes, with the rest of the car largely unaltered - save for the integration of new C-shaped rear light clusters into the bootlid.

Explaining the subtle overhaul, Tesla said it did not want to depart "from what made Model 3 a global best-seller: delivering great range and efficiency with sports car performance and handling at an approachable price point".

The changes are also said to amount to a tangible improvement in rolling refinement and efficiency. With the front foglights removed for a sleeker front end, and a new air curtain installed at the trailing edge of the reshaped bonnet, the new Model 3 has a drag coefficient of 0.219, down from an already impressive Cd of 0.23.

The result, Tesla claims, is a boost in range of between 5% and 8%, depending on specification. The rear-wheel-drive standard car now has an official range of up to 344 miles (up from 305 currently), while the Long Range car boosts that to an official 421 miles, (up from 394).

Charging speeds are unchanged: the standard car tops out at 170kW and the Long Range version boosts that to 250kW.

As for straight-line speed, the brand quotes a 0-62mph time of 6.1sec for the 245bhp entry-level car, and 4.4sec for the 351bhp Long Range, both of which use the same powertrains as the pre-facelifted car. Both top out at 125mph.

The brand has yet to confirm figures for the 456bhp, four-wheel-drive Model 3 Performance, but based on the current car's range, it should manage around 360 miles per charge.

Other functional visual tweaks include the introduction of aero-optimised wheel designs, said to be 5% slipperier, and 'improved' tyre sidewalls for the 18in or 19in wheels, which enhance cushioning while reducing road noise - the latter assisted by the introduction of double-glazed windows all around and new suspension and seal rubbers.

Tesla also highlights that the front and rear doors have been structurally reinforced to withstand heavier impacts - a move made in line with stricter crash regulations that dictate all cars must be able to withstand a collision with an SUV, given their increasing popularity. A by-product, according to Tesla representatives, is that they have a better-sounding 'clunk' when closing, helping to boost the car's perceived quality.

The Model 3's cabin has been refreshed, too, ushering in an even more minimalist look. The brighter, more responsive, 15.4in touchscreen has a slimmer surround and the steering column has lost its stalks. Indicators are now operated by buttons on the new-look steering wheel and the drive selector has become a touchscreen icon.

Tesla also highlights an improvement in cabin quality, thanks to the use of real aluminium for the redesigned centre console, upmarket textiles and "elevated levels of execution". There are now two wireless phone chargers and three USB-C charging ports, plus an 8.0in rear display with climate control and infotainment functions built in.

The refreshed Model 3 will land in the UK early next year. There's no word on pricing yet, but Autocar understands an increase of between £1000 and £2000 is likely, meaning the line-up will open at around £44,000 and cap out at nearer £60,000 for the Performance.

It is expected that that closely related Tesla Model Y will follow suit with a similar package of upgrades, but Tesla has given no indication of when this will be."

I still don't like the proportions of the Model 3, but if they gave the same treatment to the rear of the Model S (and a not-shit interior), that would be a really big improvement.

Well I don't disagree!

Pricing is available. And is mostly the same. And for me , that is a huuuge win.

Every EU manufacturer increased their prices in the late years.

Congrats Tesla for keeping the same price for newer things

Yeah usually it's a significant mark up!

The exterior restyling looks a whole lot better, at least it now has a family resemblance to the really good looking Model S. Interior still doesnt do it for me, its too plain and minimalist for my liking. BMW and Mercedes still look a whole lot more luxurious an adventurous with their interior designs compared to this.

New Tesla Model 3 First Look: The Cheapest Tesla Gets Its Biggest Update Yet

Tesla appears to have skipped beyond small changes and gone for broke.

1693649382624.jpg

The anticipated refresh for Tesla's bread-and-butter Model 3 EV sedan has finally arrived, apparently released on the automaker's Chinese website just before its expected appearance in U.S.-market form soon. As myriad spy photos and other sneak peeks on Reddit indicated, the entry-level 2024 Tesla Model 3 sedan adopts new, thinner lighting front and rear, re-sculpted doors and fenders, and apparently far more upgrades beneath the skin. Here's a quick peek at the refreshed Tesla Model 3, along with the limited information leaking out of China—where Tesla has a Gigafactory, in Shanghai, that pumps out Model 3s, as well as Europe.

A Better Inside Game
Before we start, we should point out a major assumption: That the Chinese-market Model 3 will be essentially the same as the version soon to debut for America. (Give or take some minor differences to account for the wildly different markets, of course, but like before, we expect Model 3s sold globally to closely resemble one another.) Now, with that, let's dive into the new interior, which seems to adopt a number of aesthetic and material upgrades, namely new door panel upholstery and wraparound LED ambient lighting, that lessen the current 3's austere cabin vibe somewhat.

Look closer, and you'll notice there is no longer a turn signal stalk lurking to the left of the steering wheel. Instead, there are left and right indicator buttons on the lefthand steering wheel spoke, like you might find in certain exotic Italian cars. We also don't see the shift lever stalk on the right side of the steering column, which is found in today's 3, suggesting Tesla is moving to on-screen or touch-sensitive transmission controls. Tesla says there is a new 8.0-inch display facing rear-seat passengers, as well. Beyond those changes, the interior looks largely the same, right down to the large central touchscreen floating mid-dashboard.

The Look Sharpens

Today's Model 3 is both painfully familiar—it is, after all, one of the most popular and best-selling EVs around—and somewhat doughy in appearance. Partly, this is thanks to Tesla's decision to style the 3 like a mini-Model S, the company's first long-range electric sedan (which is still available today). Shrunk down to the 3's compact footprint, the Model S's swoopy styling takes on a fishbowl-y appearance, with a bubble-like roof sprouting between a rounded nose and tail. The refreshed 3 successfully alleviates those proportional constraints.

Thinner headlights help, as do more pronounced creases in the bodysides and rear fender area, which help visually lengthen the car (which is basically the same size as before) and give it more elegance. Tesla designers have tightened up the taillights somewhat, and the units now flank "TESLA" lettering across the trunklid. Along with new wheel designs—fresh aero hubcaps for lower-spec versions, as well as new light-colored upgrade wheels for the up-level 3s—the overall look is sleeker and far fresher than we were expecting, more so in the two new paint colors: Ultra Red (pictured at top) and Stealth Grey.

What's The New Tesla Model 3'S Range, Power, And Other Specs?

The short answer is this: We don't know yet. Because Tesla has not released that information for U.S.-market Model 3s, we can only speculate that range will improve, as will motor output in both the rear-drive, standard-range 3s and the dual-motor, long-range variants, not to mention the sporty Model 3 Performance. (Again, assuming all three versions carry over to the new generation.) Look for updated and more comprehensive subframe castings, which simplify production and have already been adapted into the Model Y crossover, as well as Tesla's newest 4680 batteries that also appear in the Y.

Today's Model 3 boasts a range of 272 miles with its standard range pack and rear-drive, a figure that jumps to 358 miles with the dual-motor Long Range example. The speedy Performance model tops the Long Range's power output but sacrifices some range, with a 315-mile estimate. We'll know more about the refreshed Model 3 when U.S.-market information becomes available, but figure on the new EV going on sale soon. Tesla's already marking down the current 3s it holds in inventory, in likely anticipation of clearing out room for the new model."
