911 New Porsche 911 DAKAR!

The Porsche 911 model series (pronounced Nine Eleven or in German: Neunelf) is a family of German two-door, high performance rear-engine sports cars, introduced in September 1964 by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany.
All "that" worth over 100k ?
It's actually $60k over a 911 Carrera 4 GTS which it's based on. Ferrari, BMW, Lamborghini and Porsche themselves have previous charged way more than that for a "limited edition" or parts bin cars.

This is a well built 911 which as pictures suggest, can take a proper beating. Obviously not all owners will drive it as hard as suggested in the video. However, if are wealthy and live in Brazil, India, South Africa and other developing markets where roads are broken, this is a 911 that you can genuinely leave the house in without excessive route planning.

Overall I agree. It's a niche car that the world didn't ask for and some might consider it a parody. But there is no denying that the Dakar and 911, GT3 and GT3 RS showcase that Porsche are more than ever committed to investing into chassis and aero for the benefit of the driver.

They give it ugliest part of the GT3 - the hood.

Besides the novelty factor, I can't see it selling in numbers. But then again Porsche thrives in slicing and dicing the market into tiny slivers.

More like 80k ( in my country Dakar starts at 240k , Carrera 4 GTS 160k ) . And if you add "Rally " package ( over 27k ) , and many other specific Dakar options , it would be more than 100k over a Carrera 4 GTS.

I like 992. But this "milking" , à la Lambo/Ferrari/etc ... Don't know

In a world where people pay over sticker for Gs , RRs , Rovers, etc , this will sale like cakes.

Eloquent photo, the one that is all as it is from afar looks like one of those race starts from the 80's, at least this one makes sense, since it descends from the blue blood of its Dakar-winning predecessor, the Sterrato instead could carry the negative number

I believe these guys released this video sooner than intended...

(it's in Portuguese-BR)

I've not watched it fully yet.

He had low expectations but he was surprised by how easy the car can go off-road. Very enjoyable to drive on the dunes. He got stuck once by mistake (at the end of the video).
Weight transfer is more noticeable on tarmac because of the extra height and suspension.
The journalist from Quattroruote slept in the roof tent.

Embargoes lifted then!🙂

This is utterly, utterly one of the least sensical 911s to buy. I mean, you'd have have either the stones and/or godless amounts of money to thrash around a limited-edition 911 on the desert dunes or a dirt road. But damn, from some of the reviews I've just seen, I'd absolutely want to do just that.

If Porsche made a four seater version of it, then it would be the most sensible 911 to buy. The AWD, off road tires and higher ground clearance would cope well with the crumbling road infrastructure.

Perhaps Porsche should make a Panamera Gran Turismo Dakar e-Hybrid.

What an utterly charming car. If you love supercars but either:
1. Live in a developing country.
2. Are an outdoor adventurous person.

the Dakar is a no brainer. Drive the car on any day of the year and on almost any country roads or camping sites without worrying about scraping the front lip or damaging the suspension.

One more, it would be the pleasure of simply driving around in a different but factory-made 911 with any of those Martini or Rothmans branding and collecting heads looking
