The new S500, unquestionably the best car in the class, and arguably the most complete road car in history, is the perfect riposte to the bleak news that has hounded Daimler Chrysler throughout 2005. Forget pension deficits, healthcare burdens and errant CEOs names after small crustacia, this is Mercedes showing us what it does best. Building big saloon cars to a standard that will leave rival manufacturers contemplating whether they shall ever catch-up. They have been trying –and consistently failing- for thirty years now.

To look at, let alone purchase any other car in this sector would be lunacy. Talking of which, the outcome of next week’s group test is a closely guarded secret.

That jag XJR is EXPENSIVE. its a lousy ford with a supercharger and irs more money that the S550, talk about a rip off.

I starting to like the S more and more. I still not sure if I like it more than teh 7...

Let me introduce myself, i am Mcfly. Hi to everyone of you enthusiaists. For years i would read all your posts on German car Fans, i went through the excitement of the new W 221 S class. You know the spy shots, predictions and may i say bitching. Coming over to GCF was a big step for all of us including me alas now we are set. Im going through the same unveiling of the W 216 CL class, i must say it will be a stunner. Speakeing of stunners this new S class is as well. Which manufacturer do i lean towards, ta da MERCEDES_BENZ. go to go bye

Yeah the pictures are pretty good other than that the people over at autospies are nuts, especially the ones who post comments. I can't beleive I was a subscriber there before I found GCF .

The Auto Spies cites credit for MBUSA for the pictures shown on your first site. But they do publish a lot of images in their own right...sometimes not quite as good as others.

Here are a couple of pics I took of an S550 at my dealership!

All I can say is that this car was absolutely beautiful in the flesh as it was the first time I saw one... The fender flares are perfectly fine, the quality of the interior was superb... amazing car...
