R-Class New Mercedes advertisement - R-Class / 600 Pullmann

The Mercedes-Benz R-Class (W251) is a mid-size luxury MPV introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 2005 for the 2006 model year. The R-Class shared its platform with the M-Class (W164) and GL-Class (X164) and was available in two wheelbase lengths: standard 2,980 mm (117.3 in) and long 3,215 mm (126.6 in).

So, Mercedes start a new advertisement campaign. This was in our newspaper (the paper above has the dimension of two DIN A4 papers - so you can imagine, how big the large one is... :eek2:)...

"Think at the first car, that overawe you"

"The old way of showing representation, sovereignty, stateliness..."

"It's time, to change your mind..."

"The new way of showing size: representative, sovereign, handsome and timeless, elegant and extremely dynamic..."

Re: new Mercedes advertisement - R-Class

Well, i guess they've failed with that new way of showing size...;)

Sorry, i just had to...:D

Plus, i think they screwed up big time with using that old Benz as reference car.:t-crazy2: That car was something and will never be forgotten, while R class... I know many true MB enthusiasts that wish it never saw the light of the day.

:t-cheers:

i like the new bumpter treatment for the R..
it doesent look bad.. given that its a van
ive always said it..its the best looking van..

but should MB make van's?
well thats another discussion:D

I have to agree that the comparison is quite lame. It gives an impression that MB is ready to do anything to get some publicity for their R-Class. :jpshakehe

I mean, come on! Pullman with R class? :t-banghea

Not necessarily, if it looked like the concept it would have been great.

When I saw the 600 Pullmann, I thought: "Great commercial for the S 600 or the new Bluetec models"...but then, I saw the R-Class...good idea, but the advert is for the wrong car. :t-banghea

You can't compare an R-Class to a Pullman. Which advertising company came up with this bull? And which executive at MB agreed to it?

I saw this too in my latest Auto Motor und Sport. I didn't think too much of it then, but I did think about it afterwards and it's a dumb comparison.

Give me the 600 anyday. :usa7uh:

I actually think the R-class looks pretty good. It has a very dynamic design and I like the idea behind it. The uniqness-factor is also pretty cool, if I had 4 kids and a wife to drag around I would have checked out the R-class.

You are one of the first members, that would really consider to buy a R-Class! Most of us don't really like the concept of this Merc...:t-cheers:

How come?
There must be heeps of people wanting what the R-class offers. I even think its elegant if equipped with the right rim and color combination. I do agree that it looks quite dull without the amg apperance package.
Anyway, peace out. Im gonna wash my A160 :)

Of course it's the best van money can buy,and if Porsche can make a SUV then hell MB can make vans:D

I've driven the R-Class (R320 CDI 4Matic) and I was actually really impressed with it. For an overweight people carrier it drives pretty sporty, handles nicely and is very very comfortable. Like I said, I didn't expect this, hence I came away very impressed with the car. The '320 CDI engine has enough torque and grunt to move this car around without complaint from me (not underpowered).

I'm not crazy about the design, but I agree that if you're a family man and want a car with AWD, interior and luggage space, luxury, comfort and safety, then the R-Class is the car to get from Mercedes'. It's possibly more family oriented than a C- or E-Class T-Modell and the ML, GL and G-Classes. :usa7uh:

Still, it's one of those MB's I have a love-hate relationship with. On the one hand I don't care much for it, on the other, it's an excellent family car for long and short distance travels and nothing can take that quality away from it.

The R-Class is not my favourite Benz, but it is a good vehicule, and does not feels "out of place" in the line-up for me. It is far from beeing ugly, too.

But I am amazed... I am actually in Berlin, and there are ads for the R-Class everywhere!!! Some are giants panels of 5 or 6 meters, in front of big houses... You see this car everywhere (on paper), just incredible. I think now, everybody here know this car!!!!

This must be one of the biggest advertising campaingn in benz' s history!!! :eusa_thin

They really want to sell this car, and establish it in the line-up...
