Timing? When will BMW models equipped with this engine be hitting the streets?

Name Alpina a tuner and they will kick your a$$We are talking original out-of-the-factory engines here, not tuned ones.
Of course tuners can manipulate turbo engines to produce much more then the original out-of-the-factory ones.
Alpina Website said:At the heart of the matter is the 2.0litre diesel, endowed with so much potential by the BMW engineers in Steyr that it achieves just over 100 horsepower per litre in the BMW ALPINA D3. This would be a great result for a high-performance petrol engine, and it’s a sensation coming from a diesel. Garrett, of turbo-charger fame, are able to deliver a new charger that simultaneously achieves high levels of air mass through-put with outstanding responsiveness. ALPINA engineers performed intensive development work on the injection system, burn pattern, inter-cooling and exhaust gas emissions (particle filter). The result: 200hp (147kW) at 4,000rpm
This good for BMW and the industry. With an engine like this, the difference between a petrol engine and a diesel engine in terms of performance is diminishing.
I have a feeling we will see this in the 1er and the Mini first.

The developpement of the engine was known as Apollo Project.

the sound of, for example, 535d is certainly nothing like a diesel!
......

The facelift 120d already have a 10kW and 10Nm increase over the pre-facelift 120d, so BMW will upgrade the 120d once again with this new one in a few month's time?
