FIAT / Abarth New FIAT 500

FIAT is an Italian icon founded 1899, now part of Stellantis. Its performance arm, Abarth, focuses on racing-tuned variants. Official: FIAT / Abarth
I bet my hand that the price of Fiat will be way lower than Mini's. Fully loaded Cooper costs here 35,000 € (:t-banghea:t-crazy2:). Should i mention the price of Cooper S? There's no way that even Fiat 500 Abarth will cost nowhere near that!

:t-cheers:

I believe the novelty value of the Mini is fading, this thing (if priced correctly) could well be the next big thing.
The thing is, the Mini is more than just a marketing gimmick, it is also a very good vehicle. This new 500 is typically Italian in many ways -- style over substance. It is cute and instantly appealing ...but that is what it is meant to be -- an impulsive "must have" item that you will get bored with a week after you have acquired it. The Mini is expensive but it is also very well made and cleverly designed -- it is not just a fashion statement unlike this Fiat.

New Fiat 500 Abarth computer renderings

Fiat is preparing the all new 500 model due for launch this summer. Meanwhile, Fiat engineers are already testing another and hotter version of the small car, the sporty 500 Abarth, seen here in our latest photos from Nürburgring.

The prototype is featuring various modifications such as bigger air intakes in the front and bigger wheels with low-profile tires. As for the engine, the sporty Abarth edition is expected to double the output of the standard fuel engine to 150 bhp.

The Fiat 500 Abarth is expected to come on the market in spring 2008, and a convertible will follow in fall 2008. Various Italian designers, among others such as Bertone, are currently working on the design of the cabriolet. Most likely, it will come with a canvas top, and several concept cars are going to debut at the next Geneva Motor Show.

According to rumours from Italy, Fiat is furthermore giving thoughts to a small wagon version to extend the 500 model range.

[UPDATE]

We just spotted these latest close-up spy shots of the regular 500 model.

AutoGespot.com's member, LOWrider, was on his way to work last Saturday afternoon when he spotted two taped-up 500's on a transport truck and stopped to take a few pictures. He returned later armed with a video camera and decided to ask the truck driver if he could climb on the truck to take some dashboard close-ups. "Wait, let me get the ladder. The car is open and the keys are in the ignition. I just knew someone would come someday for my cars." the truck driver replied!

The following Monday morning, LOWrider managed to make a little movie clip which can be found on AutoGespot in addition to more close-up photos.

It doesn't look as Art Neuvo like I was expecting it to look. Doesn't seem have much more substance than the new Nissan Micra.

In these latest pictures it looks very nice, I can imagine them selling loads of these, I'm sure it will become a fastion item like the new Mini and Beetle did!

I can't see it doing much damage to Mini -- but it will kill Smart.

Fiat have done well with the interior, they have managed to hide fiat parts from other cars well. Those headrests are expecially interesting!

wow that interior is smokin.. love the white steering wheel..
very cool little car:D

i can't see the pics Luw. Can you rehost them?

PS. Even though the car is looking very hot and has the potential to sell a lot, in the pics that Mr. Bartek posted, i think that i can easily see that the car is kinda cheaply built. In the first pic (rear seats) those black plastics look awful. At least they could use a better design.

love the white steering.. its so 50´s--- need gloves to drive:D

The steering is hot, even better looking than the one in the new Benzes. Lol

Will this glove do?

^dont even talk about that glove.. i would give my left nutt..haha
:D
