CLC-Class (CL203) New C-Class Sportcoupe aka CLC (Spy pics & info)

Mercedes-Benz introduced the C-Class Sport-Coupé (codenamed "Peanut" ver. CL203) in October 2000 as a three-door hatchback coupé, based on the regular W203 C-Class. The SportCoupé was spun off into its own separate line called the CLC-Class in 2008. It is succeeded by the C-Class (C204). Production: 2008-2011.

Re: New C-Class Sportcoupe (Spy pics & info)

Yep, this copy-paste side bugs me a bit...Maybe the camo hides some subtle changes? The rear looked the same too, now we can see it surely has a part of the lights on the trunk...

Re: New C-Class Sportcoupe (Spy pics & info)

This has to mean that they have deciced to drop the Sportscoupe from the lineup after this refresh. Otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

One of Brenda Priddy's spy shooters found themselves face to tri-bladed face with what appears to be a very lightly disguised 2010 Mercedes C Sportcoupé -- which we're told will be called the "CLC-Class." Although this replacement for the C-Class will be getting a few new letters added to the name to go along with the pretty new look, we're told it'll still be based on the chassis of the outgoing C‑class. We're also told that just like the chassis, the engine choices for the CLC will be the same as those found in the C-Class. But hey, it's got a pretty new look, doesn't it?

Re: 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLC spy photos

Oh no! I can't believe they're doing it again.

The C-Coupe, or whatever the hell it was called, was a soft seller in Germany, and a veriablte flop and embarrassment in the States. Why are they giving it another go? It's like a stain on the C-Klasse franchise.

Maybe they did better than I think?

Re: 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLC spy photos

The front, gorgeous. The rest of it FUGLY!! This is a C-class that didn't just get hit, but got smacked the F__K around by the ugly stick.

Re: 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLC spy photos

Like wearing a baseball cap with a tuxedo.

It stunk the first time around, and it stinks even more now. At least the old one had a more appropriate (yet still awkward) front end. This... just looks like the head should have a restraining order on the ass. Just because it can be done on the cheap doesn't mean it should be done - heck, the rear looks like it was held-over from the old model.

Re: 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLC spy photos

Maybe Benz feel confident with this design and therefore stick to the old design (with a few changes).

Re: 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLC spy photos

I just can't understand why they'd turn out such a half-arsed model after all their recent successes. Doesn't make any sense. This is the old car with the new C's nose and the old C's interior. Utterly ridiculous. Then to give it a new model designation, CLC is the ultimate insult to injury. CLC sound like something in the CLS/CL realm, not a budgeted smoke and mirrors rehash of a previous market failure.

Re: New C-Class Sportcoupe (Spy pics & info)

I read somewhere that MB had already made a decision not to make a successor for the SportsCoupe. At some point they reversed that decision. That makes me think they had no time to develop a new C SportsCoupe based on the W204 so that's why they just took the old SC and tweaked it.

Re: New C-Class Sportcoupe (Spy pics & info)

Perhaps this is just a major facelift to keep the model alive for another 3-4 years when we might see a proper replacement?

That could be the only thing that makes any kind of sense but still, it should have had a different face from the C

I hope that's the case because there is no way that MB can have plans on letting this car live like this for another 6-7 years.

MB are even planning on pulling the plug on either the B or A-class in the coming years. That would make room for another slightly different entry car. I would love to see a 1er/A3 competitor based on the B-class.

Spy Shots: 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLC Sportcoupe

A prototype of Mercedes’ upcoming CLC Sportcoupe has been spotted on German streets and this time spy photographers have managed to get a good look of the interior of the upcoming car. The images clearly show the car’s new shape, including the new front-end, which appears almost identical to the C-class sedan.

Though it won’t be arriving in showrooms until a month after its Geneva debut next March, its mechanicals will be based on the previous-generation C-class model in an effort to keep costs low, according to earlier reports. There’s word also that it may be produced in Brazil rather than Germany and be sold in a limited number of markets.
Like the current model, the new Sportcoupe range will feature several different four-cylinder variants but may include new V6 petrol and diesel versions as well. The range-topper will be powered by Mercedes’ 272hp 3.5L V6, but we wouldn’t be surprised if a brand new AMG version is released.

Well Mercedes already made it clear that this car will simply be made "because it sells" regardless of design. If we're honest, the CL203 C-Class Sportcoupe wasn't that ugly, but it wasn't pretty either. People still bought it because it was a nice and "cheap" way of driving a Mercedes that look reasonably elegant and not too "fat and shrunk" like the A-Class for example. I once read that the CL203 was very popular with young professionals, basically people in the mid to late 20s and early 30s who were looking for an "affordable" premium car.

So with this in mind, I can see why Mercedes took this route. Costs were definitely top on the list. I do wish the new car would look different, but regardless off, it will probably sell quite well. It didn't do too well in America because people looked at it the wrong way, but it did do well in Europe. Perhaps the market research Mercedes came up with has shown them that their European C-Class SC clients care more about other qualities than a new design. :t-hands:

I think what's more shocking than the exterior design is the interior: old W203 facelifted cockpit! Still no match for the current W204 interior IMHO.

I wish it had the old W203 interior but looked like the chop below with a 21 500 euro asking price.

that pics is Photoshop ? Because they said it will look like old W203 Body. but this is not but I like much this style . if it is like this. Continue with SC or CLC
