Okay folks.
Now that the new TT is here, we can have this poll.
Which one fits your taste most?

Audi TT

BMW Z4

MB SLK

The new TT is a very nice car but there are no RS version yet. There are now a Z4M Coupe so I choose Z4.
For the price you get a lot of performance and handling :usa7uh:

I dont know prices for TT but since there isnt a RS Im not intrested. Z4 offer a lot of perfomance for the money.

Boxster S (280hp): $54,700
Cayman S (295 hp): $58,900

SLK55 AMG (355hp): $62,275

Z4 M Roadster (330hp): $51,300
Z4 M Coupe (330hp): $49,995

And the SLK, despite a folding metal roof is still a roadster so this poll should only be Z4 Coupe 3.0 vs. Audi TT 3.2. Then it's even stevens.

Can we skip the engines, and just talk about the cars design and technique?

Seeing Z4 Coupe, Cayman, SLK & TT Shooting Brake (a very good TT preview) a week ago I must say I was very impressed with Z4 Coupe & SLK.

Z4 Coupe look very muscular & balanced in the person. The lines are not as exposed and flowing very nice in the real life - the pics do the car no justice. Very nice design.

SLK is very nice sporty looknig MB. Nice elegant lines, yet not boring. The SLR nose fits it well.

Cayman looks weird from the profile & the back, front was nice though. However 911 has better design.

TT (Shooting brake) - side panels, lower rear, most of the front are similar to the new TT. I was not impressed. In the pics the car looks nice, but in the person it's nothing special. It's very beautiful & sleek, but kind a nothing special - almost boring compared to the other mentioned cars.

Ah... but only the Cayman S is a known quantity at this point and whilst a non S version is due shortly and would be an ideal competitor on paper, it still amounts to speculation. We don't know for sure that it'll have the same 206 kW output of the current Boxster S...

Great job with the figures guys:usa7uh:. This is a very interesting comparison though I have to say that the cars are very different.

SLK: Great city car with metal folding roof.
Cayman: Ultimate handling. It's simply Porsche.
Z4 coupe: Lots of power, backseat and good value for money.
Audi TT: Can't say too much about it yet but due to the light weight chassi it seem to be a competent sportcar with very modern design cues.

As you have read the cars are almost unique and it all depends on what you prefer. The M coupe is priced very nicely while the Porsche is signifiganly expensive and unless you are broke you will probably have to gulge out another 10Gs for some decent equipment. With that being said the porsche is an very expensive option.

Luw what do you mean by backseat? The Z4 coupe doesn't have one (a backseat).

As for this comparison, we're not comparing apples with apples. If you want to talk pure looks then it's impossible to identify one car as being virtuous over the rest from a stylistic standpoint.

Here's what I'm saying: I for one am a huge fan of the Z4's (especially the coupe's) styling. I don't care much for the looks of an SLK by comparison, because, whilst I acknowledge that it is a good looking car, it simply doesn't do it for me anymore. Many more people dislike the Z4 intensly and I'm not saying they're wrong. But even that point fades in its relevance when viewed in the light of the fact that the SLK is a roadster and its proportions are governed by a requirement to stow and erect an albeit very innovative, folding metal roof. With a coupe, designers have less constraints governing the shape, profile and integration of the roofline than would normally arise if that roof needed to fold away.

If you want to compare SLK then wait for the TT roadster and then include it in another poll with the Z4.

This poll was a perfect opportunity to logically compare the latest compact tin-tops on the market and that would make it: Cayman vs. Z4 Coupe vs. TT coupe. So let's assume that the forthcoming base Cayman has a 3 litre engine pushing out 195 kW or so and a price tag of between 5 and 8 percent more compared with its rivals. Now then, isn't that a well balanced comparison?

Three sports coupes all competing toe-to-toe with much the same intent and yet they couldn't be more different from each other from the outside or under the skin. Now that's worth discussing in my opinion.

I feel that the Z4 has a more cohesive design, being more curvy-wurvy than the straight machined lines of the TT. Well actually, it depends on what you prefer. But the wheel arches on the TT breaks the shoulder line somewhat, and that bothers me as 'imperfection'.

There's one car in this poll that I find desirable and it's the SLK.

Depends on what we're comparing. From one point of view we could compare the new TT to the Z4 roadster - in which case, I prefer the Z4, although I have to give the TT credit for what appears to be peerless detailing, inside and out.

The SLK is abit of a different animal, although I must say that the front styling hasn't grown on me. To my eyes, the Mercedes "new headlight" scheme is a complete bore, and doesn't mate well with that SLR-inspired nose. (The CLS should have been a guide for following models - it's far more sophistocated)

All 3 will appeal to different personalities. Personally, I'm open to the idea of getting a TT in the not so distant future if I'm somehow wowed by the thing in person, and if performance is up to par. I'm abstaining from the poll.

I have seen alot of the SLK and it looks real good when driving by... Gets my vote.

Just going by the looks since I don't have enough info.
Audi design direction looks the most refreshing to me at this time. Therefore chose the TT.

The front of the Audi is nice, but I still dont like the rear that much.
The Z4 is.........weird...

My vote goes to the SLK!

i vote for TT! only TT in here looks good. i like Z4 very much, cus its kinda cute and i dont like SLK at all! and about the TT's rear, maybe it'll take time getting used to! we can judge about the TT's design more after we see it in real, not now. and i see slk everyday, and i dont know but its not something special to me!

my vote goes still to the Z4.
I voted based on the designs only, since it's to early to judge the new TT on another basis. So, since for me the Z4 is the best looking, it gets my vote.
