The new Audi S3 will have a 2.0T FSI engine with 191 Kw/260 hp.
In mine opinion is this a big mistake by Audi.
Audi had shown "Vorsprung Durch Technik" by re-introducing a transeverse mounted 2.6 litre FSI Tubo or TSI "Twincharger" 5 cylinder engine in the new S3.
This 5 cylinder engine is easely produced from a half Audi S8 5.2 V10 FSI engine.

Well keep in mind it's an S3 and not an RS3. It would be nice if they made an RS3, but I don't think they will.

Where did you get the info?

It seems a shame to me as well, this car should have a V6 IMO and be more R32 like than GTI! To me an S3 is a fast refined car, not a car which needs to rev a lot to get its power!

Oh for gods sake!! Can you please stop saying WILL when you don't know!!!

And I defenitely doubt this. You'll see.

I 'm not certain if it's true or not but maybe they did it in order for the S3 to have a better weight distribution than the 3.2 lt one.

I agree....we still are not certain it will have that engine....

What ever you both like.

still speculation, but thanks anyway.

*Also, the U.S. is suppose to get a N/A market specific R36 w/ the 2.8 liter V6 w/ a total of about 306 hp. Good stuff! Especially as I might be in line for one.

I was always hoping for more than 300 hp in the S3. Shame.

That doesn't make sense. How do you get an inline 5 by splitting a V10 in half?

If you think about it a V10 is two I5 joint together. So a 5.2 lt V10 can be theoratically split into two 2.6 lt I5 , but theory from reality is very far away sometimes.

BTW VW Jetta uses a 2.5 lt I5 engine in it's base version for US.

They make V5s?
Not anymore, production stoped a while ago.
VW have a new (distribution chain on flywheel side) inline 2.5 liter 150 hp 5 cylinder for US Jetta.

It's more than a speculation since we have the Audi document. It's like there are evidence. :t-hands:

Yeah, and don't you think that these "document" would be available on audi.com or audi.de or any other Audi-site?

It's FAKE!!

Why on earth would Audi give the S3 only 260hp while 3.2 Q has 250...Think... It's unreal!!

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
