It's a wondeful Castle in Andalous ( Name of Old muslim Spain), a great Example of the Morish architecture 's refinement.

Since I see you are from Greece: Back in 1972 I slept one night at the Parthenon. I understand that has not been possible for quite some time.
Those were some carefree hippie times that will probably never be back.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and it's possible again to sleep there (out in the open in a sleeping bag of course). At the time my cousin and I (two young long haired Finns) were travelling all over Europe for a month with 400 FMk (US$80) Inter-rail tickets. Been to Alhambra too. Have not been to the Great Wall of China but my parents were there in 1989. During that trip they arrived in Beijing on the day of the Tianemen Square riots but that's a different story.
Have also seen some of the other choices in the list of 21, but did not choose them on the basis that while for example the Christ Statue in Rio was impressive, the impression that I have gained of the Giza Pyramids for example puts me more in awe than the Rio Statue. Same for the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty.

Actually,the whole Great wall was built through several thounsands years by our chinese people..
Now, Under the years run out and the man-made destroy, Many parts of The Great Wall have become very slipshod...Many places of it have be repaired, which make it more boundless...Even though it looks like a invalid,some fools character their names,wishes etc in the stone,which were written in Chinese,English,French,Russian etc...I just can't tolerate these rude behaviors,they should be castigated
I think the Great wall not only belong to China,but also a precious,irradiant treasure of the whole human being..We should well take care of it.

it is a shame that the tourist have such a lack of respect for the wall. i've been there a few times and everytime i visit, some of the main locations seem to get more and more vandalised. the problem there is that the gov't seems to be taking this national treasure for granted. if you look over certain parts of the wall, you'll see empty bottles and cigarettes lying around in the bushes, somethign you would never see at say the lincoln memorial or the statue of liberty (well, most places around the statue of liberty).


also, does anyone here have The Phaidon Atlas? its a great book on modern architectural design.

As for me, i have only visited Parthenon. I have not traveled abroad very much, and when i'm out of my country, i do it for work reasons.

Been to the top of the Statue of Liberty, not interesting at all. I think going up to the torch would have been more exciting, but it was closed to the public. I've also been on top of the Empire State building and the World Trade Center. The view from top of the WTC was just amazing. On a clear day, you could see for miles.

I'd love to visit other places. I'm more into visiting very high buildings such as the Sears Towers, The Petronas Towers and the World's tallest building, Taipei 101.
