My new 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i 5-door

Well, I just picked up my new car today from Premier Subaru in Branford, CT. It's a Newport Blue Pearl Impreza 2.5i 5-door with a 5-speed manual. This is my first stick shift, and I must say, it's a great time to drive. This car is so much fun to drive. It's a base model, yes, but I'm having a great time with it. I don't have any interior pictures yet; I'll hopefully get some tomorrow.

Congratz on the new wheels! Beautiful shade of Blue.. Enjoy it in good health...:-)

Thanks. I know it's not exactly WRB, but I love my car nonetheless. Though, I must admit, right now it's a nice shade of white because of snow (hooray snow!), but the all-wheel-drive is fantastic. I haven't really felt the power shifting from wheel to wheel yet, but I'm guessing that's more because it's a mechanical rather than electronic all-wheel-drive system.

As my dad loves to say about my car, it's FANTASTIC for what we paid for it. We got it for between $16,500 and $17,000, and for that it came with power everything, all-wheel-drive, ABS, 6 airbags (4 curtain), 170hp, and returns 25mpg in combined driving. And the fun factor is through the roof. I'm starting to get a real feel for blipping the throttle on downshifts.

Before I left, I took the car out to get washed and waxed to protect the paint for the winter, and I started talking to a kid with a beautiful white pearl Mazdaspeed 6. I complimented him on the color of his car and he told me that he didn't like the color of my car on the Legacy or the Outback, but it really fit the smaller Impreza's softer lines well. I think I made a great choice on color. Black woulda just showed dirt more, and my sister calls white cars that she sees in the winter "toasted marshmallows." Maybe you guys can figure out why, haha ;)

Have you completed the run in period? How is the fuel consumption and engine oil consumption during the run in period? Subaru engines have a habit of drinking a lot of oil during run in, mine was drinking like there was no tomorrow 1st week into the break in period.

Well, I was poking around my dealer's website (they're an SPT dealer) to see if they had any parts up to price, and I saw they dealt in a little Prodrive, and had these wheels on sale for $147 a corner, no tyres. I was just wondering what everybody thought of them. They're 17s. I don't have the money for them yet, but I'm just speculating:

If anybody wants to PS that, it would be appreciated!

In addition, I received a reply back from SPT giving some baselines about when some factory performance parts will be available for my car. Lots are gonna be coming out really soon, so that's where my cash is gonna go first. Pretty wheels are secondary. When the parts are released, I'll let you know, as well as get some baseline numbers in terms of improvements they'll add. In the mean time, it was nice out today, so here are some pictures of my car with my good (ie not cameraphone) camera. Finally, a shot of the engine, and also of the XM my dad and I installed.

So, I just took my car driving for the first time in the snow today (I go to school in upstate New York and I woke up to 2 inches of fresh powder. Well, I took a quick spin around campus, and holy God is this car fun in the snow. I was doing perfect all-wheel-drive drifts in the snow without even trying, just coming out of a corner it would get sideways, and I would dial in opposite lock like I was taught at Skip Barber this summer caught the car and drove away nice and straight. I've never, ever, had such a smile on my face after driving. I can't wait for 3 or 4 inches and no plows.

Well, here's my first attempt at HDR photography. I forgot a bit of my tripod at home, so I had to make do with steady hands, hence why some of the pictures look a bit wonky.
