My Mitsubishi EVO IX impressions

I drove the new EVO IX today. 4WD, Turbo and 280 hp. The steering is very light, maybe a little too light for me but I think you get used to it after a while. The gearbox is precise and the gears are very "tight", perhaps one of the best gearboxes I ever tried?
I drove over some potholes and the suspension is very stiff, much more than a M3. The car almost bounced when I drive over those potholes :D

As you guys know, I tried the Impreza a few weeks back.

I think the Impreza has a hotter interior, feels a little more luxury. Driving on freeway the Impreza feels more comfortable and I think it mainly depends on softer suspension setup. The exterior round goes to the EVO IX.

But the EVO was more fun to drive, the acceleration was more noticable. I think both these cars are equal in the handling department, perhaps a slightly advantage for the EVO?

If I had to choose between EVO IX and Impreza, I would go with the EVO. Those two have the same concept, 4WD, Turbo and huge rear wings. Of course I would love to drive these both cars for a whole day to be sure about my choice but that didnt happen so I can only judge them by the amount of time I spent with them.
I prefer the exterior of the EVO but the interior in Impreza feels more well-built and it looks better. But since these two cars are about fun and since the acceleration in the EVO was more noticable, I pick the Mitsubishi EVO IX.

Unfortunaly I dont have any photos this time because my Ericsson K750i died on me last night :t-banghea Stupid phone! All I can tell you is that the car was red with black interior combined with carbonfibre panel.

Great write up, i got the impression you liked the Subaru more.... Go figure.... Glad you like it, the car is for sure alot of fun to drive and will abuse the majority of cars out there.... Post pics when you can get them. :t-cheers:

I want fun and rawness, comfort dont come as prior 1. My heart tells me to choose EVO so EVO it is :)

Are you buying an EVO? If so, looking forward to some pictures. I've read a lot of good things about the EVO. Great choice!

nope not buying, at least not a brand new. I rather wait.
I have never tried these kind of cars before. I heard lot about them so it was about time to testdrive them. They are not luxury as the germans but they are just as fun to drive.

Oh Ok, thanks...

Yeah the steering is quite light on the Evo. This makes for a better handling car towards the limit but not as safe of a feel when going down the highway and things like that. I kind of felt the Evo is a better toy for the weekends to drive on the track while the Impreza was the better street car. In terms of reliability from what I've heard Subaru had the edge, and Mitsubishi of America is on rocky ground financially.

Yes; I drive an STi. Is the one they have in Sweden 300 horsepower as well or closer to 280-something like some other Euro nations? I'm not sure what steering rack they have over there either as the one here is heavier with a slower ratio whereas they have the Spec C quick ratios in Japan which are closer to the Evo's setup.

Karma given. It's a track car for the road, just like the Impreza. I would want a more complete car of my own though, a car like this would only suffice for me for my weekends. ;)
