My dad's new car - BMW X2

Two years ago when my dad retired from work he bought a new X1 with M-package. Told me it was his last car. After he stopped working his kindneys failed, going to dialyses four times every week waiting for someone to give him new ones. So he bought a new car and came home with a BMW X2. Never thought he would buy a "coupé".

The car got a lot of options like 20" wheels, misano blue, sport automatic transmission, Head-up Display, extra large fuel tank. I don't remember it all.
Finally drove the car, my dad came along. Wish he didn't LOL. "don't drive too fast.. it's a corner, slow down".. Come on dad, its not a Dacia Duster I told him. I guess he cares about his new toy. I have to borrow his car another time, alone please :)

My few reflections. The rear doesn't feel cramped, more space than I thought. The ride is harsher than the X1 but I think it has to do with 20" wheels and sportier suspension setup. There is a lot of road noise coming from the tyres, again because of the wheels and thin rubber but the rest if the car is quiet, like the X1. On the hightway where the speed is higher the car felt stable and calm. The engine is the same old 2.0 liters with 190 hp, good punch, in gear acceleration is good too, better than the 1.8 liters unit he had in his X1. The color is very eye catching, easy to spot the car on a crowded parking lot.

Of course I had camera with me. Enjoy

How are his kidneys now? Has he had a transplant yet?

You comments on the ride echo thr majority of reviews. It has a very firm ride and is more of an alternative to the X1 rather than a cannibalising sibling. More choice is good!

Was he able to spec a larger fuel tank?

The 1.8 and the 2.0 are both 2.0, the 1.8 is just a lower state of tune, apart from that they are identical.

The new EU6 B47 16D 114hp model uses the same turbo and injectors as the 190hp 20D model they even share the same code of B47D20. Go BMW.

Not good. Still visiting hospital 4 times, sometimes 5 times every week. Still waiting for kidneys. He doesn't want a kidney from me or my sister so he has to wait and stand in line. He is in a bed for hours and let the machine to the work. Tried it at home but the machine there didn't work properly with the cleansing.

First he wanted the new Volvo XC60 or XC40 but my mother thinks Xc60 is large and Xc40 couldn't be delivered until february. Then is spotted this blue X2 at a dealer in gothenburg, made the deal and picked up a few days later. So the car been specced by the dealer. They said it had extra large fuel tank and we filled it up yesterday, 61 liters. Standard tank is 51 liters I believe.

He should have taken the kidneys of the X1 before selling!

Ok bad joke. Car looks nice and I hope your father gets well again!

:( I'm very sorry to hear about your father's health Andreas. My thoughts to him and your family - I hope a donor is found soon.
I can relate, my wife's father passed away this year in the UK and he was a transplant recipient. Kidneys are terribly overlooked in their importance to one's well-being.

Congrats to him on the purchase of the X2. I hope he gets to enjoy it in better health soon.

X2 with 17" winter wheels. Can't compare with 20" wheels since I not driven the car with winter wheels yet. We both went for black wheels btw.

That's a good looking car... not sure about the one parked in front of it though.
