I also had the coughing engine syndrome where the rpm would dip by itself on idle and would shake the car like a cough.
But bmw fixed it by flashing the software that controls the rpm and works great now. when i had the problem i was getting extremely poor fuel economy as a result of the mixture of petrol and air was screwed up.

ol

They done software update three times. No luck.

Great! my car parked under a tree and it was very windy last week and boom a branch from the tree fell on my roof. Now I have two minor dents and one big one. Looks really bad. I have to contact my insurance company.

I have a problem with my car. You know the electrical motor inside the door that automatically move down the window a little bit when you open/close the door. It stopped working last week so I booked a meeting with BMW (the waiting period is 2 weeks btw) but today it started to work again. Strange!
the question is, should I cancel the meeting with BMW since it seems to be working again or perhaps wait a week to see if its still working.

Our E39 523i had the vey same problem. In BMW they fixed it, but only for a few months, then it happened again.

SKYSONY: I thought that function was only available in coupes/frameless doors to prevent window smashed into the roof, E39 has it ? strange.

Just me: keep the appointment, it wouldn't hurt to check unless it will cost you $$$ and its a not a warranty claim.

I guess then I haven´t read his post right, I thought he was talking about what makes the glass go up and down.

I mean when you open the door to either get in, the window automatically move down a centimeter and when you close the door the window goes up again.
