Vs MT: King is dead? 335i vs G37

Are you sure? I guess estimated price tags will be similar. :D

And 135i will be a winner ... due better performance & better value-for-money. :D;) And especially due having larger cargo volume. :laugh2:

But in terms of size, they(135i & G37) shouldn't be compared. It is like comparing the E90 335i to the Infiniti M35.

But BMW are not standing still. And expect N54 engine output to be increased in the future (eg with facelift).

The N54 seems to have a lot of power in reserve :) I hope we will see it first in the 335si...if they make it. Do you think they might introduce some sort of LSD with the 335si ? I really hope so!

no matter what i would never take that car over the bimmer..
cause looks are important to me..and there is no match there..
the battles begins and ends right there for me..

PS
BMW fans hate when i say this about bimmers..
i bet you love this post though:D.. enjoy

typical Motor trend-they cant tell the difference between their asses and their elbows.....

In fact they publish the most inaccurate information. Double check the facts anytime you read this.. As for the subjective part-im not surprised, they seem to be, especially recently, giving the comparos to other manufacturers.

It's stupid, but the $8k difference doesn't matter as much as it should becasue of BMW's lofty status as automotive jewelry. In fact, the price difference in many ways helps BMW's market position. Ridiculous as that seems.

In my gut, I'd never want to take the G37 over the 335i, despite the fact that the G is an ovbious smart buy. Anyways, good for Nissan - it's nice that BMW has a bona fide competitor in its backyard.

Well if you're going to make a test between two of the most capable sports cars in this segment, then I think price should be irrelevant.

I'm not saying that the Infiniti G37 is a bad car, it's clearly no, but giving it the win because of price when MT set out to find out which is the better sports car? Come on! The better sports car still seems to be the BMW, but from what I understand, the "Infiniti is the better sports car because it's $8K cheaper..."!?!?!?!? HUH!?! :t-crazy2:

That's like claiming a Hyundai Azera is the better limousine than the Mercedes S-Class simply because it costs $500 million less...*sarcasm*...

They already are: RUSSIA.

Last I heard they're doing quite well there too! :eek2:

Due FX sales!

For Euro markets most interesting Infiniti models are the FX & the upcoming EX. All the other segments are just too crowded.

FX + EX + diesel engines: a success formula. Yet I think Infiniti is a bit too late in the game: Audi coming with Q5 & Q3, BMW with X6 & X4 & X1, Alfa Romeo with their crossover, Volvo etc

Good luck, re-badged Nissan. :D

Yes, the ugly FX has been very successful in Russia.

Why? A Lada Niva is cheaper, more reliable, more durable and looks better too! Seriously. :eusa_danc

I don't think I've seen it mentioned in this thread but the 335 used in this comparison was supplied by Infiniti, not by BMWUSA. That to me means this test can't be fully accepted. The car supplied by Infiniti cost $47,000. You can get 335 coupes for less than that.

Price difference aside the other main reason was the fact the oil temperature in their car ran very very hot which concerned Motor Trend. The car supplied by Infiniti was a pre March built sport package equipped automatic which doesn't come with an oil cooler. Not equipping all of its cars with an oil cooler was a poor choice by BMW because many automatic equipped BMWs have shut themselves down because of the issue. However, starting with March built cars, sport package equipped automatic 335s come with the necessary oil cooler. If BMW would've supplied the car instead of BMW, you can bet that it would've been cheaper and been one with the oil cooler, and BMW would've won the test.

I find it quite funny how when the 335i beats the S5 in a comparison because of price all your bimmer fanatics claim it's for other reasons! But now that the G37 topples the 335i in this comparison it can only be for one reason, price. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe the G37 can hold a candle to the 335i, but you can be sure their's other factors for the G37 winning other then cost!;)

Yes. The point is "G37 is probably the best choice if you don't have the money to buy a 335". It is best possible 335i substitute, yet still not as good as original 335i.

I never said the G37 is better. As for the estimated price. I'm pretty sure the G37 will be inline with the G35 may be a 1-2k more expensive, still putting it about 5-7k below the 335i fully loaded. I mean c'mon, there are certain aspects of german cars that piss me off. Such as charging for xenon headlight. Are you serious? That sh!t is like standard on most japanese cars. hell my $24k TSX has Xenons standard...yet it's a freakin' option on a $50K+ german car?

So it comes down to: if you want to brag about being just a little bit better than the other guy and paying more for practically the same thing...go right ahead.

Like I said, I'm not saying the G37 is better. But if you don't care about being just a bit better than the other guy and driving a bimmer and you like the design of the G37, than the G37 is the best bang for the buck.

As for me personally. I will take the 328 over the G37 if I can't afford the 335. The 3er is just so damn beautiful and BMW has better quality than the Nissan/Infiniti cars.

you americans can fight about G37 vs 335i as much as you want. Sweden isnt getting the G37 so we dont care about the G37 :D

100% behind you bro. I totally agree with your post.

I agree with you there. That is retarded and frankly a rip off.

This philosophy transfers over from Europe where customers have always decided what goes into their car and what doesn't. The same philosophy shouldn't be applied to markets like North America where consumers are used to well-equipped cars.

Thank you Just_me for posting the article.

I got this in the mail a few days ago and loved the article. It really knocks the a lot of these bias BMW fans comments out the water and I love it.

Amazingly when the BMW 3 gets put in it's place, the same BMW fans cry "How could this happen? This must be about price! Read me the article again! I don't trust American magazines!"

I get so tired of hearing excuses. I love the Germans, but they are far for perfect. Some of the bias comments I've seen in this thread are purely "irrelevant thoughts" based on loyalty.

Yes, you think the 3 series is perfect and the best, but it's not.

Oh yes, I drove the 328i yesterday at a BMW Event in Largo, MD at FedEx field. That car drove very nice, but this article represents my thought on the car as well.

It's good, but certainly not the best.

And Just_me, I compeletly understand your opinion. You don't get the G37, so your point is correct.

You know what, I will correct myself.

I think I was being a little bias in my comments. I think we all will believe what we want. The thing is give another car a chance (If it is available to you). Go out an test drive the Infiniti G37, before saying the 3 series is better. Simply give it a try before passing judgement on the car.

Yes, this test the G37 won, but the edmunds test it lost. So go test the cars yourself and without being bias see which one drives better.

Thats all I am trying to say.

I'm glad we're on the same page! :D

Thanks. I'm glad you agree even though you're in the heart of our favorite country here...LOL

That doesn't translate well here because if it's a premium brand then just add the $1-2k to the car and say it comes with it rather than say this "name your brand and car here" is $52k but you can get xenon for 2k more...instead just say it $54k and save people the hassle. Geez.
