Both Mr. Mercedes and I have built an incredible friendship over the past 18 years, the friendship that extends well beyond this forum space. It started with two guys from Australia sharing the common passion of German cars and all things Mercedes on an internet forum, to frequent visits to our respective states and now we are going on unforgettable adventure , roads trips and drive days.

The latest adventure involves driving the current range of Porsche vehicles across the North Western region of Brisbane. Guided by professional racing drivers at the front, we had the opportunity to push these cars almost to the full potential and capabilities, across all conditions, from boring city driving in the rain, to motorway trips, before pushing these cars through the tight, twisting roads leading up to the mountain ranges. There are more to say and more photos to share, but for now I will like to say a huge thank you to @Mr. Mercedes for organising everything and making this happen. It really is a dream come true.

He still hasn't written the basic stuff, such as the sleeping arrangements and who snores more.

Compare it to the klier - Artist love affair, which is openly broadcasted, and you'll understand that the down under guys need to put some more effort!

:D :D

Our relationship is purely sexual though. Really no nice things beyond that, and when the deed is done he lights a cigar, starts browsing the Pagani classifieds and forgets about me. Always the same story. I feel like a dirty whore and have to stop falling for these antics.

On topic, what an utterly stunning country Australia is. I really want to go there one day

I am surprised that they had the 718 models there given that they are outgoing.
I was also surprised to see the pair of 718 GTS on the fleet, probably because Porsche Australia HQ provided all of the cars for the drive event, and that the 718 is the perfect car for the type of roads we drove on.

I was hoping there will be a GT4 but that is probably only available for the semi professional track days for Porsche owners to participate.

@Mr. Mercedes
Hats off for making this possible for your mate (y)

What were your thoughts about the cars, and which cars did you drive?

We started off with the regular Taycan, which is perfect for the boring city driving section of the drive event. We then jump into the 992.2 GTS cabriolet, which was a fun drive on the winding up hill roads towards the top of the mountain. The drive through winding mountain pass continues after we swap into the 718 GTS and chase after the dark blue 718 GTS as well, which was driven by the professional Porsche instructor and Bathurst race winner.

The group stop for a 30 min morning picnic breakfast break, and then we resume our drive in the Cayenne Turbo E hybrid. I have to focus and drive with extreme care, especially on wet twisting and tight hairpins on the downhill section of the drive. You can really feel the chassis and various control system struggling to keep the weight and momentum in check. I managed to power oversteer when exiting a tight right turn hairpin.... by accident.

As we entered the relatively stright and flat scenic drive part of the trip, we took turns behind the wheel of the Macan Turbo EV, and then the regular Macan EV, before jumping into the regular Cayenne Coupe for some high speed country road driving.

Thankfully we have another opportunity to drive the 992.2 GTS cabriolet on a mix of open and wide country roads, followed by another twisty uphill section leading to our lunch destination, which was at a nice farmhouse /country club style restaurant.

After a delicious meal and a nice chat with the group, we make our way straight back to the Porsche dealership in the grey Taycan again. We arrived at approx 4:30 pm which brought the end of a fun and long day of driving.

I will provide a more detailed review of all of the cars we drove on the day.

I think between @Mr. Mercedes and I, we drove 11 different cars over the Porsche Drive day and then the Ferrari Owners Breakfast drive on the following day. We probably spent about 16 hours of driving across Friday and Saturday, followed by our Sunday road trip plus the late night laps around the mountain pass in his 992 GTS and his 296 GTB. We also managed to organise two cheeky drive of two very different cars that I will write about later.

Once again a huge thank you to @Mr. Mercedes for organising these amazing drive days, it was the best weekend I have ever had as a car enthusiast , they are really these "when dream come true moments" which I will never forget!

You are more than welcome to visit us down under, and take your mind away from the unappreciative and underperforming @LaArtist.

There are plenty of views of the mountain, the snow, the beaches and the ocean, plus inner hinterland views such as these for you to explore.

We are fairely tame compare to the raging passion and tension between @klier and @LaArtist. We both snore and sleep like an old man.

@Mr. Mercedes is a Mr Porsche now.
@Monster is soon joining a BMW club soon.
We're losing the Mercedes boys.
Hey @Yaz, not to worry, we are both forever Mercedes boys and we will continue to have at least one or two Mercedes in our garages. Having said so we have also voice our disappointment with the direction Mercedes Australia HQ has taken with the brand, and the limited model range, options/personalisation avalaible, and the overall client experience. Mercedes is now a mass market brand, and unfortunately Mercedes Australia has also adpot the approach of a mass market brand when selling cars to repeated and loyal clients.
