American carmags are always rating german cars so high. Somehow I think american carmags are more baised than germancarmags :D

Well the Mercedes R-Class certainly is an interesting automobile. Personally, I have no use or interest in it, but there are tons of people out there who will value the badge, safety, performance and practicality of the R-Class. I don't think the car will do well in Europe, even in SWB form and even with diesels. Most buyers will still go for the E-Class and M-Class: that's my prediction because I just don't see Europeans wanting something like an R-Class when the M and E are both so pretty. I don't think the R-Class is ugly anymore, but it's not exactly elegant as well. Oh well, I have not seen one yet so I still might change my mind.

Isn't the SRX an SUV BTW? :eek2:

Nevermind the R-Class costs $70k :eek2:

It must have performed well for it to get first place over cars that cost $20k Less...

It will only get better next year as the R550 with 382hp for the U.S. market at least.

Mercedes won both comparos in the Jan issue of MT, a good showing.

You are focusing on the wrong things.

I would take the XC90 though. Don't forget it's the safest SUV of all!

Have you seen the music video to that song!?

Is Volvo still synonymous with safety? I think it's just nothing more than marketing.

Thats right.. MB and Audi and many other are just as safe if not safer..

I think the US market for the R (and the ML) will spike when the CDI is available.
