Monster's visit to the Australian International Motor Show 2007 (Review+Photos)

I find the CS to be a very fugly car, only thing that is acceptable is the rear but the rest is horrible. Not my cup of tea but I havent seen it IRL.

Thanks for the photos, they look great and I know from personal experience taking photos from a carshow isnt easy because of the crowd and the lightning.

Lol :) Thanks for thinking of me.

And by the way Derek, fantastic shots thus far. Especially those of the GranTurismo; I'm still not a fan of the car, but the photos truly are excellent. Oh, and congratulations on the two year anniversary of your membership on GCF!

:t-cheers:

Thanks mate :usa7uh: This forum is fantastic, and this year's motor show has something for everyone in here, so I figure out it will be a nice way to celebrate my 2 year membership.

The shots turn out to be better than expected because my camera is old and it isn't very good at taking close up shots, and you need a very steady hand to get a clear photo. The Gran Turismo looks really good from most angles. The side view looks a bit flat in the photos but it is more sculpted in real life. The dead front on view isn't the best view to see the car, that is why I didn't take photos of it. The grill is too wide and because the car progressively widens towards the front guard, from the front view, the car looks like it has a big mouth and nothing else.

Thanks mate :usa7uh: I was the few people who was there at the very start of the show, and leave at the very end of the show, so that I can have clear view of the cars and move around to have the best photo angle.

No worries if you don't like the CS, I have heard a few negative comments from people walking around it.

For Lexus and Toyota lovers (Bruce is probably the only one here)

;)

I was a bit curious to see how the IS-F will turn out in real life. It was both good and bad. The electric blue is definitely very eye catching, and the polished metallic grey alloys looks just right, they are probably the best design feature on the car. Those side vents do not look as exaggerated as those in the press release photos, and the rear end styling and the stacked exhaust pipes are actually attractive. The bad new starts when I see the front 3/4 view of the car. The bonnet is seriousely big and it rises too rapidly and too high in the beginning, you can see it in the 1st photo. The car has a swollen front. If Lexus reshape the bonnet, the car will look a lot better. I have these photos in bigger 1600x1200 size, I can send them to you guys if you want.

Excellent pictures! And I appreciate you posting your initial response to the IS-F. I have yet to see the car in the flesh, but I gather my reaction will be similar to yours. That front end does indeed look very swollen; far too much...

There was a new LX570 on display as well. It looks seriously ugly.

Yep. :eusa_doh:

Thanks again for the great shots. Raincheck on the well deserved karma!

No problem Bruce :t-cheers: The swollen front end didn't stop my friend's dad from ordering one. I have no idea when his dad will get the car though. The bonnet actually looks a little bigger in real life.

I have a quote from the show. This girl in her early 20 pointed the IS-F to her friends and said "I like the tyre but I don't like the wheel". :t-crazy2: No I am not mistaken, and I gave her a strange look afterwards.

I have a lot more photos to go go through, so this thread will go on for another day or 2, depending on the speed of my net.

Ohh.. When he gets it, please do get a few pictures for me! :usa7uh:

Awesome photos and thanks for taking the time to write about your experiences etc. :t-cheers:

I'm going to have another look at this thread later tonight. Awesome! :t-cheers:

I am back with a few more. I am practically impressed with these set of photos.

The Evo X had its world debut in the Australian Motor Show, and it was 2nd on my "must see" list behind the BMW CS. They have 2 Evo X on display. The blue one is the basic spec, and the metallic one is the top range Evo X. I can't remember their specific model name.

The Evo X doesn't look as aggressive and dramatic as I expected. The flared wheel arches do not look that obvious. The best view of the car is from the front 3/4 angle because you don't notice the rather tall nose and the long front overhang. The side profile view isn't as good because the car look imbalanced, The front end is simply too big and too "thick" compare to the rear end. I had a look at the under side of the back of the car, and I was disappointed to see the rear diffuser look alike trim has no functional purpose at all. However there are some interesting details on the car, gone are those spiky vortex generators, the rear wing has a raised middle section to better condition the air flow, and there are 2 ridge running along the sides of the roof (you will see it in the last photo). They are there to increase the rigidity of the aluminium roof

I have a few photos of a special coloured CL 65 AMG for the MB fans, it is a mixture between gun metal grey and dark purple. IMO it looks absolutely stunning. I will upload the photos later tonight or tomorrow.

Every year Mercedes will bring 3 AMG models to the show. Last year they showed us the S65 AMG, CLK63 AMG and the CLS 63 AMG. This year they have a dark blue CLK63 Convertible, a deep purple E63, a rather boring looking S63 AMG and this unsual coloured CL 65 AMG. I think i have seen that colour in the press release photos of a CL500. I was hoping to see a CL in the show but Mercedes bettered it by showing us this sensational CL 65. I have only taken photos of this CL because it looks so dam sexy. I will take that over the Bently CGT Speed 8 any day.

Mercedes had their full range of new C-class on display but I cannot get a decent photo because everyone is surrounding them.

This set of photos aren't very good cause I don't have enough time to take them.

A rather boring looking S63. You can see the E63 sitting next to it.

Remarkable job with pics, Derek! :eusa_clap Kudos, mate. Much appreciated.:usa7uh:

Can't wait to see CS in flesh...:eusa_pray

:t-cheers:

Thanks Tycoon. The CS is really amazing, Porsche and Aston Martin has no chance of the production version of the CS is close to the concept desigh.

btw, do you like that X5 in the show?
