In Montreal it will be another story, don't even expect a second to see Mcca as dominant as today, Ferrai & Bmw will show much stronger pace.

Quite boring race. Was great to see McLaren dominate, would've prefered to see Lewis win but he still did a great job. Really enjoyed Alonso's little drift in one of the chicanes at the beginning.
It amazes me how McLaren manages to find a great set up on this track year after year. Last year they had a terrible car and Kimi was still competetive, untill his car broke down. This year was no different, dominance.
I don't think the Ferrari boys could've done much more today, there's not much you can do about it on this circuit. And as said they have a longer wheelbase than most other teams which isn't favourable on a tight circuit. Despite Montreal also being a quite tight circuit I think we will see a different Ferrari in Canada and a closer fight between the two teams. Hope to see Kimi getting compepetive soon also. I know he has it in him, somwhere.

Monaco is always an anamoly. Ferrari hasn't won there since 2001 and, like Chonkoa astutely pointed out, it is likely down to its LWB design. Ferrari has won Montreal quite a few times, but is that due to the driver more than the car? That driver who won the Canadian GP for them all those times will be watching the race at home!

I think Ferrari is still in trouble. Another 1-2 for Mclaren is possible in Montreal and Indy. That would really ruin the Scuderia's year. I don't think Massa is capable of making a big comeback in the championship like Schumacher becasue Massa has far too many weak circuits. I won't even mention that other dude who drives for Ferrari at the moment. They might as well take this time to make the Finnish guy the most grossly overpaid No. 2 in history because IMO he's over-marketed trash.

damn man lol take it easy.
i think kimi still has a big chance, and im sure he will improve on the upcoming races , just watch and see.

great race for the mclarens , clearly the mclaren are unbeatable at monaco,,, it wouldve been so interesting if hamilton made a move and took alonso, but its not easy at monaco.

Here is a tought. Some tracks should have automated sprinkle systems so as to make sure that during the race it's very wet out there. :D :D :D

Who's with me ?!

That would be awesome, wet races always change the order!

I still remember Hungary last year, what a great race that was!:usa7uh:

Okay, we need some changes in f1!

As someone has pointed out, we need slicks and active suspension back! And I'm sick of teams "saving" their engines for the next race by cruising. This means racing into the first corner, in best case up to the first pit stop, then the race is won. We need cars that can race an entire race at 100%. If so we could've seen Lewis and Alonso battle it out in Monaco. I want the V10s back!

Well this is a twist in the monotony.

FIA investigates team orders at McLaren

The FIA is investigating possible team orders at Mclaren during the Monaco GP race. A statement said: "The FIA has launched an investigation into incidents involving the McLaren Mercedes team at the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix in light of a possible breach of the International Sporting Code. The relevant evidence is under review and a further announcement will be made in due course."

Honestly, I don't think Lewis could have defeated Alonso after his 2nd place on the qualification, and race behavour.
Lewis seem to go to the max, hitting the walls/sides ~3 times, while Alonso could always reply and just play with him, giving that he could always squize more juice.

Yes I hear you.

I've said that I want slicks, active suspensions and V10s on so many forums/treads that I think I'm going mad.

Also, the aerodynamics of today, based on winglets/mini-wings/horns/ears witch has destroyed the slip-stream and introduced the vibration/turbulence stream has got to go. A return to ground effects aerodynamics and/or active aerodynamics would be good (just look at all those overtakings in Champ Car).

Yea, I've heard your preachings of V10s too, and I've brought it up myself a few times too. But I just realised that its not only about more power. They shouldn't have to worry about reliability. I want to see them give 100% from start to finish.

FIA investigates team orders at McLaren

Seems weird to me that the FIA is going into this, to me both drivers were driving to their limits most of the race. I know Ron Dennis said he told his drivers to slow it down a bit, but I think he was BSing!

I believe that Hamilton could have given Alonso a good run for his money if he would have been allowed to. Mclaren had probably set up a strategy disabling Hamilton to fight for the first spot in order not to risk any accidents. It is pretty stupid to allow in house competition, it can get very ugly.

McLaren sure know about in house race problems.

Remember Indy 2006 or Suzuka 1989 ?!

But I belive that after the qualifications Alonso was definately favorite and definately deserved the win.

Lewis was only closing to him when Alonso was slowed by backmarkers and them again went on to increase the gap.

Ofcourse a battle between the two a la Prost - Senna would have been terrific.

IMHO, Fred won the race fair and square on the track. he was just perfect and ruthless all weekend. no mistakes. Lewis, OTOH, was pushing..very hard, perhaps too hard.

hitting the barriers alot and drifting isn't the proper way to get around monaco fast these days. but heck, it was the worst and the most boring race i've ever watched.

...as all Monaco races...  :t-crazy2::eusa_doh:

Heck no, not all Monaco GPs were boring

1992 was terrific (Senna vs. Mansell), and in 2005 (remeber tyre rule) twards the end we had more overtaking than in the last 10 year. And let's not forget the mad 1996 race. As well as the terrific 1984 Senna vs. Prost race and the awsome wet races involving the Silver Arrows of the 1930s and their 500+ engines on skiny tyres driven by the likes of Caracciola, Nuvolari, Rosemeyer, Lang. And ofcourse Graham Hill's awsome comeback, can't remeber was it 63, 64 or 65.

Race Report- 2007 Monte Carlo Grand Prix
Monte Carlo. In an exciting Monaco Grand Prix, the fifth round of the world championship, the BMW Sauber F1 Team scored points for the fifth consecutive time and strengthened its third place in the constructors' championship. Robert Kubica finished fifth and Nick Heidfeld sixth.

Robert Kubica: 5th
BMW Sauber F1.07-07/BMW P86/7
Fastest Lap: 1.16.006 min on lap 39 (3rd fastest overall)
"Unfortunately I don't think our one stop strategy was the right one for this year's Monaco. We expected Safety Car periods and these did not happen. Looking back now, I think we could have finished better, but I am happy to have scored some important points again. I had a small problem with the brakes soon after the start of the race and had to pump them all the time which did not make me feel confident. Then I was stuck in traffic and at the end I had a sensor problem which meant I was without traction control for quite a long time."

Nick Heidfeld: 6th
BMW Sauber F1.07-05/BMW P86/7
Fastest Lap: 1.17.041 min on lap 30 (12th fastest overall)
"Because of my one stop strategy the most important thing for me to do was overtake Mark Webber at the start, and this worked out. I was also able to get passed Nico Rosberg, although our cars touched in the first corner but luckily mine wasn't damaged. In the early laps of my first stint I had some problems with the soft tyres, but later they became better and better. On my second stint I lost quite a few seconds when I had to let the two McLarens by. It was enough to let Robert get just in front of me after his pit stop. But altogether I am quite happy with the result."

Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):
"McLaren Mercedes has achieved an impressive one-two here - congratulations to the team. Monaco was again an exciting race, although there wasn't much overtaking. The choice of strategy was crucial here - one or two stops was the question. Some had clear laps for most of the race while others got stuck in traffic and lost time. We are pleased we were reliable again, bringing both cars home and scoring seven important points."

Willy Rampf (Technical Director):
"We can be pleased with this result as we have seven championship points after a race which was thrilling for us. Nick had quite a heavy fuel load, and in the early stages of the race he lost too much time with the softer of the two tyre compounds. Only after the tyres had come back was he able to achieve the lap times we had expected. Robert started the race with even more fuel on board, but as early in the race he got stuck in traffic he couldn't exploit the car's potential. When he had a clear track his lap times dropped immediately."

It's interesting that Kubica's fastest lap is just over a second faster than Heidfeld's!

I wonder what the reason for this is!

Gee, is that (bold part) possible?

Take some history lessons, IE...:D

No overtaking, narrow track/streets.... Nah, that ain't F1 afaic...

What's coming, Canada, that's F1, not the crappy Monaco.
