Hot! MINI: What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Well over 20 years ago at the New MINI launch in Lisbon. A journalist did comment that the car would be so iconic that it would be a treasure if found abandoned in a barn or somewhere. It’s finally happened. And now we have an abandoned MINI along with its predecessor.

This new CEO seems to be very executive, she was in charge of launching all these variants and basically all the lines are new

The aceman attempt.
The „heritage“ brands are pretty lost in term of designing metal.

It's good that we can see that it is always the opposite of what you say, trying to ruin for everyone the first leaks of a BMW model, with a malicious comment.

The small wheels don't help it in photos, although IRL they won't look so small, they are nice, although 18"/19" will surely suit it better and will basically bring it very close to 95% of the concept. Any designer here who works Photoshop?

Horrible leaks Chinese pics as always, so much work they take for the official photos.........., I don't understand how this still happens to them and to all manufacturers since they already know what will happen

I dig it, just not the small wheels indeed. Spy pictures showed it with decent rims. Now bring it back to Oxford.

What is it? A hatchback that’s bloated with batteries + cladding to disguise it as a crossover?
It is a mixed child between the old Countryman and the Clubman + EV "era" new design direction
Without a doubt, if not at the beginning, sooner than later, it will be the brand's best-selling model.

I don‘t feel all the fussy lines and shapes added to the exterior. There is just a chaos, same like the Countryman.
The Rivian R3 shows how to make retro styling in a clean and more modern way. It‘s a desirable car.

Why does this remind of a Lada or Skoda?

I like this, it looks better than the longer word: C O U N T R Y M A N, or will it be the habit of seeing it?
and in the variety is the joy

Editor’s note:
Spotlight Automotive seems to be one of the strangest JVs in China. BMW already had a JV with Brilliance (now 75% owned) and there seemed to be little point in the second JV. It also took ages to get off the ground by Chinese standards and actually produce anything. Also the deal was inked just before the requirement for a JV partner was lifted for manufacturers of EVs, as subsequently exploited by Tesla.

MINI

Mini (stylized as MINI) is a British automotive brand founded in 1969, owned by German BMW since 2000, and used by them for a range of small cars assembled in the United Kingdom, Austria, and the Netherlands. The word Mini has been used in car model names since 1959, and in 1969 it became a brand in its own right when the name "Mini" replaced the separate "Austin Mini" and "Morris Mini" car model names.
