1er in the U.S. PLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASEE!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to start another thread about the 1er in the U.S., but BMW desperately needs this car here. Then a bunch of twenty year olds could stop wasting their life savings away leasing 3er's that are wayyy more than what they can actually afford. On top of that, they need a smaller, more affordable car, and wihtout a doubt 1ers in the U.S. would leave dealer lots in droves. :t-cheers:

1er is coming here as a coupe i thought.

So is said. What becomes fruit of this.... that's still to be known. It would really help if Mr. Purves would speak on the matter to quell the all the anxiety over this car coming here.

...so is the 1 series in Europe.

Expect the 135Ti to reach between 70 to 80k euros in some countries, due to (heavy) taxation.

The MINI is expensive becuse people are willing to pay high prices and BMW is getting the money especially thru options (much to their surprise too).

The old Mini lost money and drove its parent company BMC to bankrupcy, so they (BMC) were bought by Leyland to create the BLMC monstrosity.

So basicaly Mini did play a part in the death of mass british independent carmakers.

Now we wouldn't want anything to happen to BMW, would we ?!

...

Do not expect 1er / 2er to be cheaper than Mini when the cars finally hit US market! An illusion!

Well then those kids shouldn't be driving brand new BMW's in the first place. IT's their fault that they can't afford it, not BMW's.

Also agree with Eni... 1er's won't be much cheaper than Minis.

Want a "cheap" (at least a cheaper) BMW? Get a pre-owned one! :D

Eg. MY 1995 E36. ;)

Warot,

I fail to see where I placed any blame on BMW for consumer responsiblitiy. I made that point to bring to light a serious problem (for those individuals at least), otherwise mostly a sarcastic/humourus comment.

As far as the 2er being just as or more expensive than the Mini, I realize that, I was just saying that I'd rather put Mini Cooper S money towards a 2er instead. Sticker shock for the Mini is a problem that is quickly and easily solved though.

I am looking for a car right now and i couldn't but notice one thing. Is it me, or cars are gettine more expensive as time passes? I'm not gonna tell you what i'm gonna buy now (wait some time), but it won't be a BMW.

I did some search, and located some 1998 E36 320Ci for less than 10.000eur! Not what i need though...

A MY 2004 E46 M3 is not expensive at all either. Lot's to be found.

In fact, I am going to have a testdrive in a E46 M3 CSL today :D
