What do you guys think? Midland racing has been sold to the carmaker Spyker and some other company. What do you guys think Spyker can acheive if anything? Are they too headstrong for their own good?

Re: MF1 Racing Sold!!!

Awesome. This means Spyker in F1 probably. Very good for marketing :D

Re: MF1 Racing Sold!!!

Yeah, but I wonder how good they are going to be, because the last time I remember I watched top gear or something where they tested the spyker and they said that it handler horribly...so I wonder how their F1 car will handle LOL

Re: MF1 Racing Sold!!!

Seeing as Spyker sells so little cars, I'm sure it's the other company buying the F1 team which is giving all the money to run it!

I thought MF1 was a long term F1 team, they are starting to do quite well!

Re: MF1 Racing Sold!!!

I'm not surprised to hear about the sale... Shnaider never seemed to be wanting to stay in F1 for a long time.

The Spyker connection is interesting. Hopefully it'll be positive for all concerned parties.

Johnny Herbert loses MF1 job
Spyker will not renew contract

Sep.28 (GMM) The Silverstone based team's sporting director, Johnny Herbert, will not have his contract renewed by new owners Spyker.

The former grand prix driver was employed by Midland last year in an image-enhancing role, so as to present a familiar and friendly face predominantly to the British press.

But Herbert, 42, has failed to achieve a contract extension by Dutch carmaker Spyker, who at Monza completed their takeover of the team.

Herbert's contract runs out on Saturday.

''Spyker-MF1 is a new team with a new image,'' the team's manager of business affairs, Ian Phillips, was quoted as saying by Formule 1 RaceReport.

Albers reveals new deal

(GMM) Christijan Albers admitted on Friday morning that he has signed a new contract to race for the Dutch-owned Spyker team in 2007.

An official press release will be issued from Shanghai in the afternoon.

Among the candidates for the sister seat are Dutchman Albers' current teammate Tiago Monteiro, Red Bull refugee Christian Klien - who this weekend is watching the event on television in Austria - and third drivers including Adrian Sutil and Alexandre Premat.

Ferrari goes Dutch: engine deal with Spyker-MF1

Spyker-MF1 has struck a deal with Maranello to use Ferrari engines for the 2007 Formula 1 season. The team formerly known as Midland and before that as Jordan was recently purchased by a consortium lead by Spyker, the quirky Dutch exotic carmaker. Autoblog previously speculated on the likelihood of such a deal, as an Emirates crown corporation owns a stake in both companies.

The announcement comes out of Shanghai, where the Chinese Grand Prix weekend is currently underway. The heads of the Spyker team met last week at Ferrari headquarters to strike a deal, but until Saturday, there was still a possibility that they would stick with Cosworth engines for next season.

Ferrari is also expected to provide engines for one of the two Red Bull teams (either Red Bull Racing or Scuderia Toro Rosso), leaving the other to possibly use Cosworth engines or the Northampton, England-based firm could be forced out of F1 without a team to supply.
