Merry Xmas.

BMW-web.tv - The International Entertainment Magazine

;)

Just to think after the BMW Z4 Roadster the next new product from BMW will be the BMW X1 Sport Activity Vehicle (Destination...Urbanisation)

Looks like we will be heading back to Chicago for that one, particularly fond of the urban infrastructure of Lower Wacker Drive.:eusa_thin

That is kind of the feel we are going with that film posted , very urban , very large and the ability to showcase the X1 as a more urban friendly Sport Activity Vehicle .

Visited Chicago for a test with a camera mounted to an X3 to see what is achieveable and of course we will use the computer controlled gyro camera attached to either a Porsche Cayenne or Mercedes ML55 for those sweeping dramatic shots.

The idea for the X1 is to take the X1 to four different locations in one film, begin in Lower Wacker for example. Come up the offramp and then we are in switzerland or Austria with the X1 in the snow and then over a snowdrift and we are in the desert and playing in the dunes and then back to chicago when we see the tyre marks of snow and sand. Still a lot to be thought out but with X1 we want to emphasize and connect with the individuals who will use this car as their transport and weekend get away SAV.

Like I had hoped with the X6 when I suggested that the X6 would be very popular at wintersports resorts in Switzerland etc . Low and behold I counted about 10 in my hotel car park.

Somebody owes me 20 euro.:D

Scott,

Why Cayenne and ML55 ?
The X5 E70 is not able to fullfil the task ?
Or is it deception ?

Or maybe the Cayenne and the ML55 are simply better :D:D:D

They use these camera vehicles for the film industry some films they have been used in such as the Bourne Ultimatum , The Dark Knight , the two Transformer films and they just did work on the Terminator movie and the upcoming Tom Twyker (Run Lola Run) movie The International , and feature in the high velocity automotive carnage because they are computer controlled they follow the whole car you can it left to right , swoop over the entire car and get close to the road as possible . But we have used these cameras before the 1er Coupe for example and of course the X6 and you will see in the dynamic shots of the upcoming Z4 Roadster all this was done to using these cameras .
They provide a very dynamic medium to our presentations.

Because they are used in the entertainment industry I imagine these performance vehicles are specific to the job they do , but inside the whole rear cabin is non existent just filled with sophisticated computer gear.

It's their choice to what vehicle they use not BMW's. They are more of a tool than a competitior to us and there purpose is those cameras it 's not about what the car is.

We are considering our big launch of 2008 The Progressive Activity Sedan to be filmed with IMAX cameras but nothing is definite as yet.

You mean 2009 obviously.
Thank you for the explantion. Business is paramount to choice of makes.

IMAX sounds cool! I have a freaking huge IMAX cinema in my city, and it would really be something to see the PAS on that screen!

Thats the idea, as with the Progressive Activity Sedan the term I would use to describe the idea to showcase this particular car would be in a medium quite like the X6 and be very "Panoramic" and on an "emotional" level like the 7er. But not necessary with the "Pushing the boundaries" theme as the X6 showcased.

I Especially enjoy wide screen large views of great scenery with your product a minor dot on the horizon. But that's what driving is about , Freedom great roads and great scenery just add to that feeling. Driving a car in locations such as these are definitely considered emotional and unforgettable.
And with these ideas you are trying to captivate the customer to feel these emotions when they see the car for the first time .

You almost had me there. There's alot of X6 mentioning, had to go back and peruse.

An IMAX presentation sounds interesting.
