We need to have an understanding as to why Mercedes-Benz designed them in the first place. The main reason was because the 500SEC didn`t have b-pillars, the other reason was so you wouldn`t have to reach almost behind you to grab the seat belt in the 500SEC. Remember what I said in the B-Post thread, when it comes to MB coupes

This is the Mercedes 500SEC if the earily to mid 80s, no b-pillars
Mercedes loops the seat belt within the presenter itself therefore the seat belt itself is always there when presented. The 2006-07 CLK coupes uses the same looped design.
The new CL in MBs line no longer uses presenters. The seat belts are intergrated within the seats.
