The Mercedes-Benz Zetros is an off-road truck designed to operate in extreme conditions, but that doesn’t mean it can’t offer the comfort of a home, if that’s what the customer wants.

That’s the reasoning behind the Mercedes-Benz Zetros mobile home, a truck built in collaboration with Hartmann Spezialkarosserien (body) and Hünerkopf (interior equipment).

On display at the Caravan Show in Düsseldorf (August 30 – September 7), the Zetros truck carries a 5.6-meter (220.5-in) long and 2.4-meter (94.5-in) wide body painted in the vehicle color, which houses the living area.

The walls, roof and floor are made of one-piece, galvanized and plastic-coated panels, with a maximum wall thickness of 100 mm (3.94 in). The body features an electrically powered slide-out to the left in the direction of travel with a carbon-fiber outer skin and pneumatic seals which increases the living area to a length of 2.5 meters (98.4 in).

A passage allows the transition from the cab to the body, which features everything one would need in a house. An L-shaped seating arrangement with kitchenette is complemented in the central section by a bathroom with washroom and toilet plus a separate shower cubicle. A double bed completes the accommodation at the rear.

The materials used inside include real-wood veneer in bird’s-eye maple, lightweight natural stone and breathable genuine leather, among others. The Zetros mobile home has an entertainment system with automatic satellite dish and internet connection, while the living and sleeping areas are each equipped with an LED screen. A Bose sound system completes the package.

The Zetros mobile home is powered by a 7.2-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine producing 326 PS (322 hp), mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Long journeys in remote areas are no problem for the truck, which is fitted with tanks holding 300 l of fresh water and 600 l of diesel fuel, a power generator, as well as a solar energy system with lithium-ion batteries.
