The best of Mercedes-Benz safety technology coming to Mulgrave

The company that recently won the ultimate Euro NCAP Advanced Reward for safety is now picking up the pace in its bid for safer driving. Now, in the midst of the Australian International Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz will be holding its first ever Roadshow Safety, a series of events at the company’s headquarters in Mulgrave, Victoria. Engineers will be showcasing the latest and greatest in Mercedes-Benz innovations both in the realms of passive and active safety.

Journalists and safety professionals from all around the world are welcome to join the event. They’ll be able to sneak a peek at what the German premium car manufacturer is up to back in their Technology Center in Sindelfingen. To grace the event is Mercedes-Benz’s ESF 2009 experimental safety car. This car is a conundrum of all the safety innovation that the company has so far achieved. And just as it has been for the past 70 years, all their technology has been aimed for the benefit of not only their clients but for each and every motorist that happens to come across their vehicles.

The company will also be bringing along a couple of simulators to really make things as realistic as possible for everyone present. So if you’re in Australia and want to see the latest buzz in Mercedes-Benz safety technology, head on down to the company’s quarters in Mulgrave. See ya’ there, mate!

New study indicates 14.2% of all accidents could be prevented with an integrated braking and steer assist. ;)

To compare, ESP is already very effective, and prevents 9% of all accidents. Combined with brake assist (BAS), the effectiveness rises to 12%. While a standalone steer assist could prevent an estimated 2.2% of all accidents according to this study.
