My thoughts exactly. I suspect it is more of a styling exercise than anything.I like it, but smaller than the GLA? I don't see the point.

Mercedes-Benz calls the G-Code a sport utility coupe, and the company is keen to point out that this concept is not headed into production in the foreseeable future. Instead, the G-Code is meant to demonstrate cutting-edge technology like a multi-voltaic paint finish, which would allow the entire body to serve as one giant solar panel. The concept can also charge itself using natural wind force when the car is stationary, and recharge using the rebound energy of the springs in its suspension, harnessing that and converting it into electricity.

It is interesting that so few concept cars actually even hint at the major revolution about to happen to the auto industry, that being autonomous vehicles (or driverless vehicles). With the traditional role of the driver no longer required, this will surely see entirely new cabin-arrangements ......which will enevitably change the shape of automobiles.
Maybe, for many (particularly those who live in congested cities), even the desire to own a private vehicle will disappear as many city councils are making it less convenient and very costly. Are automated taxis the real future of the automobile?
