Hot! Mercedes breaks record for single-month sales

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
I'm just pointing out that until recently V-class (Vito) hasn't been included in MB passenger cars sales! It a new thing - which started in January 2014.

And I'm also pointing out no other car maker doesn't include van sales in the passenger car sales (eg. VW, Renault, Opel, Citroen/Peugeot etc) although their vans are used by families as well. Daimler / MB is the first one doing that.

Yet still biggest customers for such vehicles are enterprises - using such cars for taxi & shuttle purposes - and not individual buyers, using the vehicle as a family carrier.

MB breaks down the numbers thusly. Folks are welcome to add Trucks, Vans or Buses to Mercedes-Benz Cars, if so desired. BTW, Trucks also may include some Buses. :)

Suspect it may also have something to do with the driver's license, as more than 9 seats requires a commercial D1 or D driver's license, instead of the normal B.

PS. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class seats up to 8. Only its commercial brother, the Vito, is supposed to seat up to 9.

The Viano was offered with 6 or 7 seats as standard and an optional third row seating made that 8.
Sooooo it's NO different than the new V-Class.
The only difference is where MB decided to count its sales to.

PS: Do we really have to close our eyes for everything MB!?
MB should add any commercial vehicle to the passenger car list so people can finally cheer the "victory" at the end of this year.
What a joke...

^Imagine the outrage from a certain member if JLR did the same? :D

I believe it's Mercedes Cars + Smart

Yes, "Mercedes-Benz Cars" include smart branded cars as well.

It's rather confusing. I don't know why still calling the division "Mercedes-Benz Cars" and not "DAIMLER CARS" instead ... although the division also includes smart brand (and it did Maybach brand as well). Eg. BMW reports automotive division sales as "BMW Group Automobiles"

In the official Daimler press sales report for January (or was it February) there has been a remark saying that from the 2014 on V-class van sales are now included in the MB Cars sales figures.

So, not only "Mercedes-Benz Cars" sales figures do include smart but from now on they also do include a part of Mercedes-Benz Vans - the V-class van.

It's a total confusion. On so many levels.

Yeah... so when I finally thought "Yes, MB is finally catching up! Nice!"...
I also forgot that they include Smart in their sales. It's not premium car sales.

The note was in the February report when the V-Class was introduced, probably because the V-Class may replace the R-Class, which is to end production this summer. :)

The premiere of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class on the Geneva Auto Show adds further momentum to the product offensive of the brand. Since today the new multi-purpose vehicle can be ordered at dealers in Europe. Market launch of the V-Class is beginning of June

ja, natürlich:)

Regret to see the R-Class go. At present still available in China as R 300 L Business, R 300 L Luxury, R 350 L 4MATIC and R 500 L 4MATIC. :)

Also in Malaysia and Vietnam the R 300 L and in Indonesia the R 280 Long, R 350 Long and R 500 Long may still be available.
