Did you happen by any information about how high it revs?

I read and I heard last year, that it’ll rev much higher than the current V8, which sits at 7000 rpm.

What’s also interesting, at higher rpm’s the Flatplane starts to sing, like on the current ZR1 which sounds really good because of the high rpm’s.

Edit:

While recently speaking with Auto Express, head of vehicle development at AMG, Steffen Jastrow, said his team is working to improve the responsiveness of its next-generation V8. The most significant change will be the implementation of a flat-plane crankshaft.

This will allow the next-gen AMG V8 to rev higher than the current unit and should also make it more thrilling

What I also heard, is that people complained on the GT BS because of the low rev limiter, they expected the Flatplane to rev much higher than 7000 rpm.
The M177 LS2 was more for faster revving than higher revving. But yes. People didn't like the sound.

Apparently the new GLC53 has a new resonator for the exhaust so maybe they'll do the same for the V8s to give a more emotional sound.

Design and Sound didn’t match tbh on the BS.

My dealer had one, he drove it (also on the racetrack) and he was very disappointed, because of the terrible sound, the normal GTR is much more fun to drive, it sounds way better.

The new GLC53 sounds delicious.

The future of AMG: more V8 engines, fewer SUVs, and a Black Series that will even make the 911 tremble.

Surprising statements have come from a senior Mercedes executive regarding the new mandates given to AMG. The executive clearly stated the focus of the performance division while also confirming the return of the prestigious Black Series models.

Being German, of course I'd like to see Mercedes-Benz succeed as a brand as well as a corporation. But I somehow just can't shake that feeling that much of what is now being proudly announced may simply be presentations of hair-triggered desperation. I sincerely hope that I am dead wrong. The capacities regarding pristine engineering and cutting edge technology are more than abundant. But what is missing ? Laser sharp focus ? Lack of perception of big picture scenarios ? The once unassailable brand equity that has gradually diminished to a level in which an increasing number of customers are asking themselves: "Exactly why should I aspire to driving a Mercedes-Benz over another brand ?".

I would disagree with desperation, I would definitely say it's a knee-jerk reaction to correct some of the biggest mistakes the company has made in years. The 4-cylinder AMG everything and the EQ cars are arguably bigger failures than the bespoke 2004 Maybach 57 and 62 since they managed to pivot and turn Maybach into a successful brand, if no longer bespoke. When you see number of M3 and M4 models on the road they literally had no choice but to bring the I6 and V8 back to to a broad selection of cars. The question about aspiring to Mercedes-Benz is a good one and I think in the case of certain models the answer because they're still highly desirable cars.

That said, the possibilities are endless on what they can do with this renewed focus, after being dragged and stung hard.

The reliability issues and lower customer satisfaction ratings I think also should be addressed by Mercedes Benz, they have far too many recalls and also they are low ranked on the reliability and customer satisfactions indexes. Quality and workmanship need to be upped to good levels like in the days of the W124/126 etc.
