Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
In order to challenge Bentley and RR they need to build a ground up Maybach model with top notch materials and design that will separate the car from regular Mercedes lineup. What they’re doing now is just blinged up series models with tons of chrome and tacky logos. Even if they did create such a car, I don’t think it would be easy for it to justify itself without being seen as a blinged up Mercedes.
Bentley could be somewhat easy to challenge but I cannot say the same for RR. They’re the definition of luxury.
I agree. But the interior quality is already comparable with Bentley.

I know all 3 cars and I own a Maybach. Therefore I am maybe a little bit biased.

Could be. I’ve never been a huge fan of the Maybach models. They’re definitely super luxurious and all but just too showy, almost tacky for me. (Except the Maybach S)
Part of the reason could also be the people’s obsession with the fake Maybach’s. They even turn the C-Class into f*cking one. I think that kinda dilutes the brand name.

They’re borderline showy, same as RR TBH.

It’s somehow funny, because I already heard discussions from groups of people who were standing nearby my car and discussing If it’s a real one. They didn’t dare to ask me after I opened the car.

You’ve have the same issues with AMG BTW.

Agreed. Some of the specs on RR’s are straight up tacky, but they still have something that Maybach lacks, I can’t really pinpoint what it is.
Plus, those people were definitely not enthusiasts, because real nerds know exactly where to look at to identify whether it’s real Maybach or not. 🤣✌🏻

I agree (y)

Or you just wait until the engine fires up.

The GLS600 for example sounds quieter than a GLS63, but much louder than a 580.

If you really throw money at the conversion, it can be very tricky.

Sidesteps, front and rear and chrome parts can be fitted very easily.

The rims fit, but the front wheels need little spacers.

The easiest way is simply to look at the rear seats, which are bespoke.

You could fit this probably also in the GLS, but the costs would be very big.

Just that a new car was coming, a true successor to the SLS but more extreme. A AMG GTR on steroids. They want to shit on porsches GT3 RS GT2 RS on the professional racetrack and the amateur racetrack
I'm glad the ambition was not lost following Moers' departure.

Hopefully they make lower-end versions to compete with the likes of the Carrera 2 through GTS. A light weight *sports* car.

Imo the C192 GT is more of a modern 944, than a competitor to the 911.

Exactly. As far as the S-Class Maybach goes the easiest ways to tell is both the length itself and the window on the C-Pillar. It’s a bit more rounded on the Maybach compared to the series model.

Mercedes can absolutely create a bespoke car better than a Rolls or Bentley…….on paper. They’ve done it before. The problem is getting those buyers to see it that way and buy one. The tech on such on a car would be unquestionable. The design and presentation is where Rolls and Bentley have it for days.

I agree.

People buy RR and Bentley mostly because of the image, but If your priority is maximum comfort the Maybach is one step ahead.

That’s where the E-ABC shines compared to the other cars with simple air suspension.

The mostly underestimated thing is the curve function, you’re driving through curves but you don’t feel it at all.

Key to a successful Maybach is the V12 engine, and maximum technology regarding comfort.

I personally would position the car not as sporty as a Bentley but sportier than RR.

huawei. 100k.

These modern so called Maybachs are fake. f#ck those fake Maybachs ,they’re just regular S-Class cars in awful colors. A total scam for chumps.

This car is insane actually. Funny how Chinese are making much better vehicles than Germans. Wild.

Here in Germany, the realization that the domestic automotive industry will no longer provide the countrys most significant economic pillar is being voiced more frequently. Recalibration appears inevitable. Reinvention of essence. The predictions indicate investment in research and development and outsourcing of manufacturing. AI will play a rapidly increasing role,
