Mercedes-Benz Sculpture for NAIAS 2010

It looks beautiful, but I don't see any CLS in it at all. The next gen CLS looks way different....

The whale nose is there on both car is so is the deeply scultured bonnet. At the rear there are great similarities too, though the sculpture looks a bit more dramatic.

Like all concept cars it has most likely been carved out of a block of clay and then layers big sheets of plastic.

While that sculpture is gorgeous, I don't think most of those lines will make it on the real car. Those lines are way too sketchy and bold for MB to actually use them. This looks more like a sculpture of a sketch than the actual car.

Today is the press day for NAIAS 2010 and MB have already hosted their press conference. Press will all fly home tomorrow, so this is it. No car underneath. All just a teaser for a rather quiet auto show.

NAIAS is shitty this year.. i think the manufacturers are even putting more into the asian shows..
Its sad when a sculpture is the highlight of the WHOLE show..

Geneva will bring the goodies though... to many of them.. Some could been released here..i wonder why they are dissing Detroit like this..

I was reading about that especially when the Geneva show will be hosting far more World Premieres. I have heard through industry rumours (the same ones that told me about the Brawn-Mercedes take over?) that a Concept showcasing the A-Klasse is on the cards for Geneva.

Anyway I think that the BMW hour glass can now be left to the past as it has been eclipsed. Well at least there was a car!

This is not even in the same league as the hourglass faillure. That was far, far, far worse. This sculpture means very little, it's just nice that they made it. There was no month long hype created, for one....

BiG RESPECT for honesty..

This is NOTHING compared to the hour glass..
The hour glass had a website..it was put in the middle of moscow..
And drummed up by the CM team here..
This just came out of nowhere..
You didnt even have the chance to anticipate..

Its a nice treat imo..

Better than nothing..cause they werent showing the car now anyway..
