I get how you are feeling. I think the problem with the design of Mercedes current interiors; they are too predictable and too alike, plus the cost cutting is fully evident. What makes me annoyed is the Chinese brands are making huge strides with their car interior design and quality and are much cheaper. A car like the S-class shouldn't have visible weaknesses and show evidence of cost cutting in its interior, for goodness sake its a 150K Euro car and very expensive. The GLC EQ interior looks promising, it doesnt have any shiny piano black trim. I hope it is as good to touch as it looks in pictures and videos.I am really reaching a level of distaste for MB interiors similar to the one I have with Audi's.
Let's be fair here and compare against like trim levels (luxury vs luxury; AMG pack vs AMG pack). The pre-FL luxury line was not much to write home about either.f#ck

True. However, I agree with his point. The pre-FL W223 front end with the AMG pack was great IMO.Let's be fair here and compare against like trim levels (luxury vs luxury; AMG pack vs AMG pack). The pre-FL luxury line was not much to write home about either.

It doesn’t needs to be open, if you’re phone lies in the center console, like in the pre-fl. The centre console lid stays closed. If you’re having beaverages in your car, the console is open, both in the pre-fl and fl.The standard bumpers are a big improvement IMO.
The exposed wireless chargers are a reasonable compromise as well. I'd rather see my phone resting and charging on a neatly trimmed and cooled leather pad, than tucked into the depths of the centre console, which invariably ends up staying open and looking like crap with all the other pariphanalia in there exposed.
Whats the point in a flowing aesthetic, if its always broken by an open centre console cover.
This! The companies whine about not being able to sell the cars, the problem are the cars not the people.
Customers aren’t stupid, If you try to sell a worse product for a higher price, you may fail, and people might not gonna buy it.
Indeed, compare apples with apples. Then again, I never realised who much better the pre-fl lights look.f#ck

This!
That’s what MB has been doing for the past 3 to 4 years; prices up, quality down. Still they are not listening to what customers want. Who ever asked for glass roofs you can’t open, flush door handles, (too many) screens and could go on.
PS to be fair, it’s not only MB not listening to their customers.
I guess it's not enough that they're both S-Class. f#ck.Indeed, compare apples with apples. Then again, I never realised who much better the pre-fl lights look.
Relax. In my eyes the non-AMG pack pre-fl looks better than the FL non-AMG pack as well, by the way.I guess it's not enough that they're both S-Class. f#ck.

If I think about the pre MOPF I dont think I ever saw a W223 with the standard bumpers, all the cars I saw always had the AMG kit. I think it will be the same with the MOPF model, the standard bumper, although an improvement on the pre MOPF still in my opinion doesn't look anywhere as good as the AMG bumper. I would also prefer an AMG model for the different design steering wheel as the standard spec still has the F-ugly piano black plastic 3 spoke wheel. The standard bumpers are a big improvement IMO.

Am I the only one who thinks the Facelift looks better, apart from the DRLs?f#ck

I also think the FL in AMG looks better than before. The new front headlights and big grill are growing on me. I am not a fan of the standard bumper though.Am I the only one who thinks the Facelift looks better, apart from the DRLs?

The pads are always visable, always a disturbing factor.
You point is valid. However they have to be visible and out in the open because induction charging makes phone hot.The pads are always visable, always a disturbing factor.

I get what you're saying. My own experience is, that I have my phone (iphone) always on the pre fl charger and had never any problem with it, so far.You point is valid. However they have to be visible and out in the open because induction charging makes phone hot.
Thermal protection kick in and stops the phone from being charged or if it's a phone with a bad or third party battery, there is risk of fire. A cover would have been nice for when you are not charging wirelessly, but sometimes you need to design for the lowest common denominator(dumbest). Hence no possibility of charging with the pads covered.
Well, the new set up is ideal for you then. When driving I virtually never look at my phone, so to me it feels dissonant.I always like to see the face of my phone. If its charging in the pre fl, its in the depths of the console. If its just resting but visible, its rattling around the cheap cupholders.
Must just be a me issue, but I much prefer the new set up.
