S-Class (W223) Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) Facelift

So…the M177 EVO, is there info released on it’s peak RPM yet? & What exactly did they do to it’s exhaust manifold since they said they tweaking it to sound like a rumbly 180° V8? Anybody got any idea?

This is what I found on the net, left is the new flat pane V8, right is the previous engine.

Let’s be honest: all these engines are crap. The moment I hear there’s a battery involved, I completely lose interest. These engines will never last 300,000+ km without problems and failures—not to mention how expensive the battery will be (where you’ll end up paying double for refurbishment or repair everything you previously saved on electric range). Then there are the new Brussels directives on CO₂ and, consequently, sound (OPF), which make a V8 sound terrible. The days of beautiful V8 sounds, like those in the W220 (S55 AMG) and specially W221 (6.3 V8 and 6.0 V12) are sadly over....

At least the Mercedes Benz engines still work flawlessly even after 300k km.

The OM654 is way better than expected.

Regarding sound, in USA you still have V8 without OPF/GPF.

I personally think the M177 in the G still sounds delicious.

Im starting to warm up to the front of the new MOPF S-class. The AMG version is slightly better in my opinion, I am not really digging the intake design of the front bumper of the standard models. Also the standard version has that crappy piano black plastic steering wheel.

This below is a classy combo for the standard model S580 with emerald green exterior with 20inch wheels and interior in machiatto beige Nappa leather with piano black flowing lines trim panels.

This is what I found on the net, left is the new flat pane V8, right is the previous engine.

Usually 2,3 and 7,8 fire sequentially on a Crossplane.

With this header, 1,5 and 4,7 fire sequentially as well which should theoretically give us the burbling sound.

To get the burbling sound you need 2 sequencing gas pulses which share the same turbocharger.

We know how the S63/S68 BMW sounds, it doesn’t burble because the sequencing gas pulses feed 2 different turbochargers.

Please clarify that you are photoshoping.

The vents and speakers on the frame surrounded by wood? Is that even possible, or are you just making it up?
You remind me of someone who used photoshop a lot, enlarging the wheels on EQS to make them look better and defend their appearance against criticism.

Once again: Manufaktur can provide any wood you want — and for the right price, for example even leather instead of wood, with your name engraved. As Ola said: ''with Manufaktur, only the sky is the limit.''
EQS? It’s not a bad car, but I’m not a huge fan of its shape — even though it looks better in person than in pictures — I prefer the S-Class.

So, clarify that these are your Photoshop configurations, with some things like the grilles and speakers not being possible.

Is it me or are press releases nowadays so much thinner than before? Used to be, we had hundreds of higher quality pictures and many high quality videos provided by the manufacturer on a model. Properly maintained means thousands and thousands of dollars on suspension and electronics and rust. That’s not a well made car if you have to keep throwing money at it. The W220 was just junk. There is a fine line between maintenance and having to rebuild everything to keep a car on the road. By the latter standard any car last to 300K

I must say that I do like the M-B screen panel:

Prefer the MB.UX Hyperscreen of the EQS though...

...and prefer both to the rigidly upright screen panels of the new MMA CLA and GLC EQ.

Far from it. I’m talking solely about regular maintenance, which is essential for the existence and proper functioning of any machine that’s in use. The W220 is a great car — I’ve had three of them — and with all of them I was more satisfied and had fewer problems than with the W140 (even though the W140 is considered much more bulletproof).
The only issue I have with the W220 is rust — but as I said, that can be managed and repaired as it arises, and it’s not a big expense. The Airmatic and ABC systems have served me fantastically on all of them.

See these type of articles that try to make one choice into some crisis, are just BS. Did the sky fall when then A-Class debuted features before then S last time around? Sheer hyperbolic nonsense. What their decision reflects is a cost decision. It’s a facelift not an all new car.

As of about maybe 12-13 years ago, it became not so uncommon to sight seriously rundown W220s with seized suspensions and severe body rust here in German scrapyards. Nowadays, one hardly sees any W220s at all. Only perhaps very occasionally those of diehard fans who pay extreme attention to maintenance schedules and body/interior care.
