WTF... Mercedes doesn't sell a mid-level V8 G580 here... that's so weird.. huge missed opportunity if you ask me.

Another example of MB being very out of touch with their customer base this decade - if it weren’t the fact that G63 is the most profitable MB and among the top selling AMG every year with it’s cult following, their C-suite of accountants running MB probably would’ve axed it or have gone all-in with a G EQ push.

The new V8 (M177M) engine produces 537 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque in the S 580. Previously, it produced 503 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. This increase is further supported by the power of the 48-volt mild hybrid system. The M176 engine in the S 580 is now being discontinued.

The M177M engine features redesigned intake and exhaust ports and utilizes AMG's flat crankshaft. This aims to improve efficiency and responsiveness by altering the firing order.

The M256M engine has also been revised. The S 500 now produces 600 Nm of torque (instead of 560 Nm) and is expected to produce 640 Nm in overdrive mode. The electric auxiliary compressor (to address turbo lag) is now more powerful. Measures have also been taken to further reduce vibrations.

The plug-in hybrid model is also becoming more powerful. The system power will increase from the previous 510 hp (367 + 150 hp) to 585 hp. This means the S 580 e now offers the same power as the SL 63 AMG 4MATIC+. The performance increase is achieved thanks to more power from the M256M engine and a higher output from the electric motor. The electric range remains above 100 km.

The OM656M inline six-cylinder diesel engine remains in the vehicle. To improve emissions, it will be the world's first diesel engine equipped with a heated catalytic converter.

As in previous models, all engines (except the plug-in hybrid model with a 400-volt electric motor) will have a 48-volt electric motor between the engine and the transmission (9G-Tronic).

The V12 will continue, but its surprising to hear that it will be dropped in Europe. Especially if the report is true that the ABC/MBC suspension has finally been engineered for the V12.

Mercedes are absolutely stupid for including this BS shiny black piano trim on the FL S-class, it is the part of the interior that every person who sees it says it looks cheap. WTF are they thinking! They change 2700 effing parts and can't change the things that count the most, the interior parts that look cheap!!

They can change these parts to wood on a half priced CLA, but their flagship they leave the same, they out of their minds!

The new V8 they could have just added 5kw to make the power a rounded and more impressive looking 400kw, instead of 395kw. I have never seen another car with 395kw, it will be 390 or 400kw. The BMW 760i in US produces 400kw/750nm and that car is 4 years old now.

This company is simply lost. They deserve whatever happens to them.

I agree(y)Obviously the MBAU morons has been put in charge of MB Europe.

But with this Sea of Pianoblack it wouldn’t bother me personally, you know how I “love” this material.

TBH I am now really surprised that they haven’t made the G63 a pure
EV yet.

This is an executive car. But the person using the back seat will still have to see that very poor quality plastic part. This is an embarrassment for Mercedes.
The sheikh won’t care about the piano black trim. Enthusiasts are the ones who pay too much attention to small details. That said, I totally agree with you.

Come on man. This is just silly nitpicking and not everyone uses kw, it’s just fine in hp. They’re giving you a new engine!
