S-Class (W223) Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) Facelift 2024

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan, produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2020. It replaces the W222 S‑Class which had been produced since 2013.
Oh really? That's sucks. Especially as Porsche are now offering rear sets in the Touring.

Yes. That's according to the Doug D review. It's pretty ridiculous given the already massive 600+ liter storage of the coupe boot. Having the rear seats just make so much more sense.

No changes, its still covered up front and back.

I think that a more dynamic-sporty look is not always welcome. The new W223 has an increasingly low-sloping roof, which makes it much more difficult to get into the back seat - an entry that is actually the most important in the S-class, since most important people in the S-class ride in the back. Also, in most cases, the S-class can be afforded by older people, who have an additionally difficult entry.
Look at the W140 for example - a more ideal entry is almost impossible, you can almost ''stand up'' to get into the car - that's what I call comfort, not that I have to almost break my neck to get in.

That also contributed to the W140's ungainly greenhouse. The W140 was originally supposed to have a lower roofline. I'm OK with the compromise on the W223. I've never seen someone get close to banging their head on the door opening.

It just means you're getting old and every car will be more difficult for you to get in and out of. Much ado about nothing.

That explains why sales of crossovers have skyrocketed. Lower birth rates and aging population. It's easier for the silent generation and baby boomers to get in and out of a slightly raised seat rather than sit in a sedan.

Actually it is about the higher seating position and the elevated view of the road which attracted people to SUVs and crossover and the false sense of feeling safer. Older people with mobility issues have trouble getting in and out of any vehicle. Trying to climb up into a SUV is no easier, if you have that issue.

My dearly missed dad was 6'5 tall and 265 pounds and suffered of severe backache to the point that a doctor told that he would have to take painkillers for the rest of his life. According to dad, it was much easier to ingress and egress out of an SUV than doing the same in a sedan. That's why he switched from sedans to pickups and SUVs when he was already 45 years old He had spent 22 years working as logging technician at oil rigs and another 16 years working as Blaster on lad. Both of these jobs are back breaking chores. He developed chronic backache and climbing down into a car because too much hurdle for him. I remember him being hospitalized for ten days due to chronic backache back in 2007 when had turned 50. He retired at 58 and never again he bought another sedan or "passenger car" for that matter.

To be fair, being 6'5 and 120kg is not the typical experience of the average human being.
For most people, the S-class is massive, and there's plenty of space to get in and out.

Could it be taller and squarer, probably. But the S-class is as much about style as it is substance.

Yeah, well, he couldn't afford such luxury, so he settled for the Toyota Hilux with leather seats and power adjustable driver's seat.

I don’t think I prefer SUVs because of the false sense of security..

My primary reason is that they have more ground clearance and thus better daily drivers on worsening roads.

Secondly, new cars sit lower than before with more aero etc. This makes them prone to more damage when driven daily. My OCD cannot take that punishment.. 😂😂
