V-Class/Vito Mercedes-Benz redefines the minivan with the all new V-Class

The Mercedes-Benz Vito/V-Class/Viano/EQV is a mid-sized light commercial vehicle (LCV) produced by Mercedes-Benz, available as a panel van, chassis cab, or multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), carrying cargo or up to eight passengers. In the Mercedes-Benz van lineup, it is positioned between the larger Sprinter and the smaller Citan.

Mercedes-Benz first introduced the Viano in 2004. It was a nice, square van that could seat 8 people. Ten years later, the latest generation still carries the same, boxy design, but the levels of luxury provided, truly redefine the minivan segment. From a first quick look at the press kit, we notice the updated design with the new corporate front fascia, but what really has our attention is the interior - with design elements, materials and equipment that can be found in MB's upscale sedans, S-Class included!

The V-Class chassis will be available in two wheelbases and three different lengths, powered by three diesel engine options, all measuring 2.1l of displacement. The basic engine powering the V 200, generates 100 kW (136 hp) and 330 Nm of torque, while the V 220 produces 120 kW (163 hp) and 380 Nm. The top-of-the-line V 250 BlueTEC model offers 140 kW (190 hp) and 440 Nm. Power is transferred to the road via MB's 7G-Tronic seven speed automatic gearbox, that in the V-Class comes with four different driving parameters: economical, comfortable, sporty and manual.

The, mainly optional, equipment list is shocking for the segment, as it includes a leather dashboard, the touchpad that was very recently introduced with the new C-Class, Thermotronic automatic climate control system, a separately opening rear windscreen and the brand's full range of electronic safety systems, such as Attention Assist, Distronic Plus, Collision Prevention Assist, LED Intelligent Light System, Adaptive Highbeam Assist and even Pre-Safe.

The 2014 Mercedes V-Class van will be available in European markets starting on March 6th, with prices starting from €42,900 plus taxes. Click "more" for our photo gallery.
