I seriously have no idea why Chinese like streched cars - aren't they pretty short on average? Why do they need that much space? ...
Wealthy Chinese buyers, like most others of the BRIC nations, are chauffeur driven. Hence, the need for extra room in the rear seats.
I'm don't know if it true, but I've read somewhere, older peoples buy cars for being driven by their children or grand-children, so here the needs of LWB of car like A4, 3-series or X1. For the categorie of the E-class, I think this might have something to do with the fact the car is made localy unlike S-class or 7-series which is import, and cost much more due to the huge import tax.You are right.
But then, if they are wealthy enough to pay a chauffeur - doesn't it make sense to buy bigger car? Say, an S class?
