1912 Benz Feuerwehr-Motorspitze
Around 1910, gasoline driven fire fighting vehicles were becoming more common and the Benz Cie. and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft were amongst the first suppliers. The Benz fire truck of 1912 had chain drive and rubber tires, common on heavy-duty commercial vehicles until the late 1920s.

1937 Mercedes-Benz 320 Krankenwagen
Mercedes-Benz chassis were a preferred foundation for ambulance bodies built by companies such as Lüeb, Miesen, Binz and others. The displayed ambulance, on a Mercedes 320 chassis, was created by the Hohner company in 1937 which put it to work for medical services.

1952 Mercedes-Benz 170V Kastenwagen
Station wagon and panel van versions of the models 170V and 170D were used in the field by the MB Customer Center Service in the 1950s. The versality of of these special purpose vehicles made them ideal for parts transports and as workshops on wheels. They were normally furnished with bodies made by other firms but the car on display came from the Sindelfingen factory.

1952 Mercedes-Benz LF-3500 Feuerwehrfahrzeug with Metz Drehleiter DL-22
The LF-3500 embodied the state-of-the-art firefighting vehicle of the early 1950s. It was equipped with the highly modern Metz Drehleiter DL-22 which could extend outwards up to 22 meters (72 feet).

1979 Mercedes-Benz L 409 Pritschenwagen with Doppelkabine
This particular L 409 served with the German Disaster Relief Foundation (THW) in the 1980s and 1990s as a repair crew vehicle. It could carry up to 6 passengers and had a payload capacity of 1.5 tons on its rear bed. The L 409 belongs to a van series which was manufactured from 1967 to 1986 and were mainly built in Düsseldorf.

1982 Mercedes-Benz 814 Bergungsfahrzeug
This Mercedes 814 was delivered to the customer in 1992 as a platform truck and converted into a recovery vehicle in 1996. By October 2004, it had done 370,000 km (230,000 miles) of service for the ADAC, the German automobile association and provided breakdown, towing and accident assistance in 14,000 cases. The Mercedes 814 was a representative of the light truck generation introduced in 1984 and succeeded by the Atego in 1994.

2000 Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI T-Modell Polizei
At the end of the 1990s, the C220 CDI station wagon became one of the most common police cars in Baden-Württemberg. The exhibited vehicle did duty in Stuttgart from 2000 to the end of 2002 and covered 40,000 km (25,000 miles). It was one of the first police cars featuring the silver-green paintwork introduced in 2000 to facilitate the resale value.

2001 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 313 CDI Rettungswagen
With a market share of 80%, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the most frequently used rescue vehicle and ambulance in Germany. It owes its popularity mainly due to its powerful, yet economical engine and its great reliability. In addition, equipped with airbags, ESP and an optional automatic gearbox make it an appealing package. The Sprinter is also safe and comfortable as a Mercedes-Benz passenger car.

2004 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U500 Winterdienstfahrzeug
Since 1951, MB has been producing the Unimog - a vehicle of many talents which has proven itself in agriculture and as a municipal vehicle. Typical of the Unimog are the portal axles, the snub-nosed cut cab, the single tires and the AWD. With a snow-cutter, the U500 shown here, is a member of the Unimog generation launched in March 2000, can clear 1,600 tons of snow per hour.

2005 Mercedes-Benz Econic NGT 2628 Garbage Truck
The MB Econic was introduced in 1998 and specifically designed to operate within city environments with its low frame, low level cab floor and folding doors. It is mainly used for refuse collection but also as a firefighting vehicle, beverage distributor or tank truk. A special feature of this vehicle is a dust- and particulate-free natural-gas drive.

2001 Mercedes-Benz C32 AMG T-Modell F1 Medical Car
Since 1998, the F1 Medical Car has been guaranteeing speedy first aid on the racetrack at Formula One races. The Medical Car is always the most powerful AMG of the C-Class station wagon. It has space for the driver, three doctors and all their emergency equipment. The car on display was used from 2001 to 2003.
