Brabus Tunes Aggression into Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class

Knowing full well that no crossover buyer is ever going to go offroading, famed tuner Brabus has decided the best thing for the brand new GLA-Class from Mercedes-Benz is extra muscle and power.

Their first major tuning project targeting the GLA-Class is admittedly a nice car, going from practical family car to diesel racer. We'll just start our four point inspection with what's under the bonnet. There, the 2.1-liter turbodisel of the GLA 220 CDI has been boosted to levels of output you'd expect only from a petrol engine.

40 extra hp have been added to the 170 hp diesel mill for a total of 210 hp and 410 Nm (302 lb-ft) of torque. As a result of this the Brabus-tuned softroader sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).

Of course, Brabus has worked extensively with the A-, B- and CLA-Class, so all the other engines their crossover brother will offer can be re-programmed. Already, the PowerXtra CGI B45 kit for the AMG model has been announced as offering 400PS and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft), which means 0-100 km/h takes just 4.4 seconds. That should give the Porsche guys something to think about!

For the GLA's exterior, Brabus are proposing several upgrades. At the front, a new lower bumper insert creates a sportierlook, like a manly chiseled jaw, and is accompanied by side air inlets to cool the brakes. At the back, a wing that attaches to the top of the spoiler is available, together with a diffuser-look aluminum skirt that flanks quad exhaust tips.

On the wheels and tires front, anything from 18 to 21 inches is on offer, together with both lifting and lowering kits. For those wanting sharper handling, the tuner offers a 25mm (1 inch) chop, while a 30mm increase in travel is available for those hardcore tracking enthusiasts.

Scuff pates with the Brabus logo, aluminum pedals and trademark door sills are just some of the interior pieces that ties the whole package together quite nicely.

Erm... don't know what to think...

There's a lack of continuity for me; the front features an all-metallic look lower valance with no black bits, the side rocker panel is all black plastic and the rear is black + metallic. It looks mismatched imo.

Mercedes Benz GLA AMG Sports Package Tuned By Brabus

Mercedes Benz GLA is the latest entrant from the company in the entry level SUV segment, Brabus the official tuning company of Mercedes has already got their hands on the GLA 250 4MATIC. Now Brabus is back again with the GLA but this time it is the 220 CDI variant. The visual enhancements start with the orange color contrasting with black color tone for the body parts like front spoiler lip, air vent surrounds, side skirts, alloy wheels, roof rails, rear wing and diffuser.

The interior remains to be same except for the orange stitching to match the exterior color scheme of the GLA. Brabus has given plug & play D3 kit to increase the power output of GLA. Now the GLA produces 210 HP of power and 410 NM of torque. This engine is mated to 7 speed automatic gearbox. 0-100 kmph in 8 seconds and topspeed is 220 Kmph. The performance is matched with the quad exhaust for the awesome sound from the engine.
