Mercedes-Benz gets rid of the sound-logo

It has been confirmed that MB will not use the prepubere boy-chor soundlogo presented 2 years ago. It seems MB does not need it any more (or maybe it was so weak it's been quickly ditched). Accorded to an MB spokesperson, MB will not replace that soundlogo.

It's not even used in the recent G-Wagon ad in Germany.

I have to say that thing was not a success, it was weak and unrepresentative.

That was quick, though I think most of us could have told them to dump it two years ago!

The problem with the sound logo was its interpretation. It should be instrumental in the first place, not vocal. Instrumental tune (the same notes) would work just fine. While vocal tune was utterly inappropriate.

I have no idea who's idea was to use vocal sound logo. Even more: a vocal interpretation by a pre-pub choir boy. :t-crazy2:

The sound logo was taken from a voice CD set:

If you like to discuss it with Daimler, here's the thread on the Daimler blog:

... and this gentleman killed the MB sound logo.

Saying a strong brand like Mercedes-Benz doesn't need it. It speaks for itself.

Good move. Was a retarded sound anyway.

Hopefully they now come back with a strong and consistent catchphrase like "Engineered like no other," or "We are Mercedes Benz".

Finally! For me, it wasn't so much that the sound logo was annoying (which it was), but many times it ruined the commercial...like the S-Class commercial which had upbeat music...and then at the end...a strange chime...the sound logo didn't make sense. Glad MB got rid of it.

All this hate for that sound? I really didn't think it was that bad.

Audi's heartbeat sound is still the best imo....
