Concept Mercedes-Benz F125! Concept

Remember it's "only" a research vehicle, to showcase future technology trends, and not so much the exterior design. Mercedes usually uses concept vehicles to showcase future designs. The F125! also reminds me of the F700 DiesOtto from some angles, whose style I wasn't too enamoured with...

This car doesn't suffer from any front overhang, mildly put. I have never seen a car with this little, ever.

It'll make little parking lot fender benders more startling than ever. :D

The car looks a lot better in those live driving video motions. As a whole I think it wouldn't be realistic, but there's a lot of good ideas that will surely be implemented into new cars.

It actually isn't bad looking at all. Its a clean looking design, hopefully Mercedes is going back to that in the future.

Front looks like a mish-mash between these 2 cars/concepts. Overall though, for a concept this is very nicely done! I'm not really liking the front headlight design, and the rear is off in every single way, but its personality, the sense of occasion (without being overkill like a Maybach, RR or Bentley) and the smoothness to it all. It's a huge contrast to BMW Concepts (nothing wrong with either brand's concepts)...and in essence it's a true Mercedes. They've taken the micro-car concept of wheels at each corner and simply given this thing a huge wheelbase.

Also, seems like they finally got tired of all the 'if it's got 4 doors it's NOT a Coupe regardless of the greenhouse shape' criticism, so they ditched the conventional doors and put 2 gull-wings to keep to the true definition of a coupe. :D

It would be very interesting to see this thing refined down to a more conventional look. Give it productions wheels, production grille and rear-lights...kind of how BMW has refined the i8 from pure concept to now near-production ready. If the auto-industry was simply brave enough to turn these fantastic concepts into production-reality....my what a world it'd be! Perfect example is those side mirrors. How long have we now seen concepts with the thin side mirrors/camera, but even something as small as that hasn't been introduced into production. :(

The interior seats only four. Its driver-oriented cockpit includes 3-D displays, a cloud-based telematics system, and an asymmetrical rear-seating concept. By folding the front-passenger’s seat forward into the footwell, the right-side rear seat can be extended into a business-class chaise, à la Maybach 62. The driver gets his toys, too: Besides voice-controlled systems (navigation, e-mail, internet access), other functions are triggered by hand gestures. Swiping a hand quickly to the right turns on the wipers; pointing a thumb to the right engages the right-hand turn signal; and lifting a hand horizontally raises the temperature. No word yet on what a flip of the ol’ bird will do.

Daimler recently confirmed an all-electric S-Class may follow the S 500 Plug-in Hybrid? :)

Mercedes to build all-electric S-Class
Battery-powered Benz to follow plug-in hybrid. And is a convertible S-Class on the way?
In the future, Mercedes-Benz plans to build an S-Class that uses a combination of electric motor and... well, just that. A full electric S-Class Benz. Welcome to the World of Tomorrow.

At the Geneva Motor Show, TopGear.com grabbed a few moments with the chief of Merc's large cars, Dr. Uwe Ernstberger, who confirmed to us that while an electric S-Class isn't really a correct fit for now, "a complete electric car will be done in the future."

Problem is - and has always been - the battery packs. "We have to work on the capacities of the batteries to get a better package in the car," Dr. Ernstberger said. "Because you do not want to lose all the comfort features of an S-Class for transporting a battery only.

"First of all we'll have the plug-in hybrid, where you can drive between 25km to 30km on electric power [only]. We want to use a battery to support electric driving in a closed city like London, and we use the combustion engine for driving outside the city."

But the future, according to MB, will be electric. And autonomous. "I think the S-Class is at the very top of the movement of autonomous driving," says Ernstberger, "but the question is how far do we go in the short term, not only technically, but also legally, to let the car drive by itself?" Ah yes: the thorny issue of who's actually in control of - and therefore responsible for - a car that drives itself.

Probably. The F125! already showed some of the new self driving features and interior concepts, though, and may have been the research precursor for the Mercedes-Maybach interior arrangement in some sense. The alleged Autonomous Ecoluxe Concept may take things a little further. We'll see. :)
