Concept Mercedes-Benz F 800 Style Concept

Future car concepts, design studies, upcoming tech, and what may come next
This car is the icing on the cake in proving that BMW is the leader and innovator of modern designs. There's a reason M-B chose a BMW designer.

Things I like: Gorgeous front end, it's more organic and curvy than the hard lined stuff out now, looks WAY better than the F700 mess.

Things I don't like: Still messy, lines are overdesigned (the upper swag line especially, reminds me of the "broken/squigly" look of the new Buick), M-B seems to have no direction right now, however, hopefully this car is showing where they'll be going in the next gens, i.e back to smooth lines, however here's hoping they clean the lines up.

Overall, for a concept, considering I always find them vomit-worthy, I think it's pretty nice, the interior looks ridiculous though.

yeaaah right
With the new 5-series sharing the same damn interior and exterior as the 7-series
that's very innovative for sure :D :usa7uh:
and i haven't even started with the Ssangyong-looking X6...... :eusa_danc

Exactly.

I absolutely love it! Wow!

Because yhou're a fan of BMW design. I think most BMW fans will love it. I sure do!

lol, how much more can they rip off BMW design cues - flames surfacing on the sides, sculpted bonnet, edna eyelashes on the headlights, the eye bags under the headlights. Interior looks good though.

Putting it like this makes all the MB fans angry. Put putting it any other way probably too, because to most of them MB is too good to look at others for ideas :D

I love this concept. So stunning.

Denying that is just proving bias. I hate the Bangle era, hate it, but it changed M-B's styling forever, along with about everyone elses.

The interior of the new 5, which copies the new 7 (which is a good thing for the 5, and puts it well above the 212 E's if so), is a continuation of the Bangle interiors, which were what M-B copied with their new E's interior (along with Tech, like iDrive, and the dash-screen). C'mon, give credit where it's due. ;)

Agreed about the X6 and GT, etc. though. Fugly.

Anyway, O/T. I find promise in the F800, but I hope they use the positive points.

This looks like a similar concept to BMWs 5er GT. Looks to be the same same idea as well. I really like the front, first Mercedes Benz front design that I have not been partial to for some time. The rest is an un-amalgamated heap of lines that look disproportionate to the each other.

And seriously, if you don't want BMW mentioned in Mercedes Benz threads, don't mention Mercedes Benz in BMW threads, or simply, deal with the comparisons people are making that are different to your own?

If the design leader was the one whose design chief MB contracts, he should say also Hyunday is another design leader, wich I will never ever say. Even when you can notice the guy who has designed this car comes form BMW, the car is more avantgarde than what BMW has nowadays, wich is more legant and fluence.

I don´t know why, but this is the way I´ve always thought a Merc should look like, and the VED Concept is the way a BMW will look like in the comming years, back to the exposed front lights.

Anyways I love this concept, if only we could see the rear this weekend...

^ Well BMW was a design leader last time during the Bangle period (to a point where almost every car or at least car brand had something Bangle-ish). This time around, BMW is playing it safe (this F800 is what a new Bangle BMW would look like imo). And if MB is really going to come up with production cars looking similar to this concept, they might be design leader in another next gen.....

It is amazing how everyone is jumping to conclusions about Mercedes design. Yes, some design cues look similar to BMW, but Benz is hardly "stealing" their entire designs (Thank God). Remember this is a concept, not a production car. I'm sure that every design element on this concept will never even see production. It's no big deal!

Just enjoy the car for what it is....no need to turn this into a BMW vs Benz thread.

M-B seems to have no direction right now.

Lol....Are you serious or is just W212 E-class anger showing?

From the SLS, W221, C-class, GL, CL and E-class coupe Benz has never looked better.

Design direction and subjective looks are two polar views HOH. MB has lacked a design direction for many years.

I'm afraid to jump into this because honestly this concept car looks a mess.

Mercedes, HoH......certainly has looked better. Just last year their lineup was a lot better looking. The W212 is selling like hotcakes around here and everytime I see it, I cringe. Only the E63 looks almost right.

If this concept reach production even in watered down form it will be a dark, dark day for Mercedes-Benz design. Sure they've pulled themselves out of the quality hole they were in just a few years ago, but the design department has seemingly gone off the deep end.

This is from me, as Tycoon/Panterr calls me..a Mercedes-Benz stalwart. I'm fearing the next S-Class, which already has a goofy roof like the E-Class. Not round, but not square, just a mess.

The CLS I think is going to be goofed up too, with those stupid side creases/lines.

Completely serious. Put away the fan-boy stuff for a second (I'll give you credit, you do seem to criticize when you deem it's just, but you are a loyalist to the Benz brand), the 221, C, and E, do share a common theme, however things are simply getting messy. Lots of different gimmicks for each model, some concepts are purely round like this, some are boxy, etc.

The SLS looks NOTHING like the other cars in the lineup. Put an E-Coupe next to one and they share nothing in common besides the Benz grille. One is monolithic and clean, the other is a hard-lined mixed with-round mess. The SLR blood-line could be traced to even the W211 E-Class, showing mature and talented design language, that's missing now.

You really think the GL is a nice design? The R-Class? The GLK which looks like a Ford, or gimmicky generic Japanese little SUV, etc?

Naturally, being a Benz fan, you'll find whatever new generation to be nicer than the previous ones, unless you're into the History more-so. However, they are throwing out hail-mary's more-so now then ever.

I think in 2003, for that time, the M-B lineup was untouchable, much nicer than what they have going on now.

Like the front, not sure about the rest, and i have to say this is very Umbish design language.

See I think you may just be stuck on those W220 years. Yes, Mercedes-Benz did have some pretty years back then. Very simple and elegant designs. Now their going for a more aggressive look. Their cars look fine, it's really all comes down to a matter of taste.

I missed the release! Stupid 7 hour trans atlantic flight....

Anyway, I think the car looks incredible. The car looks stunning, very captivating and interesting. The F800 combines flowing lines with some sharp ones, which, surprisingly, looks good. The lines on the side will take some getting used to, but overall it's an incredibly good looking concept.

Mercedes-Benz Design is alive and kicking.

Um..
Most here agree that the front is pretty kick ass.. while the rear has not been seen yet..
The issue is with the side..

On one of the pic it reflect very much..and looks very messy and complex..

I mean if you look at this.. to me it looks very clean and straight lines.. Very MB ( with a crazy touch ofcourse..as its a Concept..and a F car on top of that..not even a vision.))
