E-Class (W211) Mercedes-Benz E-Class W211 facelift. Spy pic thread.

The Mercedes-Benz W211 is the third generation of the E-Class range. Made from 2002 to 2009 in sedan/saloon (W211) and station wagon/estate (S211) configurations – replacing the W210 E-Class models and superseded by the Mercedes-Benz W212 in 2009. Production: January 2002 – April 2009 (sedan), February 2002 – June 2009 (station wagon).

Zach is very correct there - the E class has long been the "safe" model for MB - meaning that it is traditionally the most conservative. The E class has a big market for people who are wanting a high-quality practical vehicle rather than a showy status-symbol - it has always been a popular model for retired people and the estate/station wagon version is popular with soccer-moms. The E class has never been "cool" - and that's kind of cool in its own right IMO.

Not to mention diplomats... the E-class is the Switzerland of cars. It's not going to get a lot of people hating it, that's why it's such a great car I think. Elegance is a key word, not dynamic.

When is the facelift happening and when can I find a facelifted E-Class in store?
Wondering that because I'm about to chang car soon.

The interior of the Eclass is still top notch, they dont' have to do much, just a few refreshments would do because i still think the E's interior looks and feels better than A6 and 5series even though those two has I-drive and MMI...

I just want new wheel arcs on the facelift E and perhaps a more major change to the front lights/grille... rear is pretty perfect still, probably just make the rear bumper a bit more high...

I dont' think the facelift will be in store until soemthing like March 07 if not later...

What I think should happen is it should get the new engines, new V8s and amg engine, the grill should be made bigger as well as the lights, for the rear there should be a new rear diffuser, and the lights should be changed to go in line with the new S class! There should be new rim design, and quality should go up, that's all I think should happen, maybe underneath things should happen!

Finally, finally Mercedes-Benz USA has seen the light!

We now get the same sport package you guys get over there!

E-Class Sport Package

It is about time! Whoopie!!!!! :eusa_danc  :eusa_danc

Oh and that isn't the best part....it only costs $1,275 on the E500 and $2,250 on the E350 instead of the previous 5K for the AMG Sport Package.

Now bring on the E550!

I guess they were reading your posts after all ;)

BTW, did you notice that they had the facelifted E-Class in the link you posted? It has the same sport package rims as the one in the spy pic and as well as the dual exhaust pipes :D

We have the sports package here as well, but as with all Mercedes options its pricing is rediculous.

I LOVE those rims. I wonder how they would look as 19's on an S.

Also, me thinks the facelifted E550 is going to be a damn fine vehicle. :usa7uh:

I don't think that was the facelift E. MBUSA would never do anything like that, they're the last site to update info on stuff like that. If they did post a pic of the updated E then it was by pure mistake....lol.

Yeah looking at the link that is the current E with the same wheels they're using on the facelift test mules. I can't wait until that first article on the E550.

The facelifted E class is obviously a very desirable car but I wouldn't buy one. The A6 Avant is what I would choose although the 5er has also grown on me a lot. The problem with the E class is that the fundamental problems with it are all still there - not least that electronic brake system - sorry but I just don't have much faith in the W211 - it will undoubtedly be known in the used car market as a model to avoid.

Maybe so, but a nice 2003+ facelifted S-Class would be even better!

Why not a facelifted E-Class? I've always thought that MB's facelifts were much better than the pre-facelifts. They correct so many things IMO, like the facelifted S, C and M (W163). I've also loved the final year models - "Special Edition" models that is.

This is true, but I like the size of the E a little better. I'm not ready for a S-Class yet. :)

2007 Mercedes-Benz E-class

October 2005
This lightly disguised Mercedes-Benz E-class was caught driving in Southern California.

The current generation E-class was launched as a 2003 model. So, as we approach the 2007 model year it seems a freshening is due, and as you can see one is on its way. It’s obvious that the 2007 S-class rear treatment has been moved down to its smaller brother.

One change expected in addition to the exterior freshening is for the E500 nomenclature to be changed to E550. The current 5.0-liter V-8 which produces 302 horsepower will likely be phased out and the new 5.5-liter V-8 (which makes it’s way into the 2007 S550) will be used, which produces 382 horsepower, that’s a 26% increase.

We last tested the E500 in November of 2002, its quarter-mile time was 14.3, with the increase in power it should reach the quarter-mile in an estimated 13.2, over one full second quicker.

New S-class, no new E-class :D

If you read the article that was dated October 2005 it says...

"The current generation E-class was launched as a 2003 model. So, as we approach the 2007 model year it seems a freshening is due, and as you can see one is on its way. It’s obvious that the 2007 S-class rear treatment has been moved down to its smaller brother."

At this time and point they know its not the new S class, it wouldn't be wrapped up that way.

That picture is that of the S-Class, and Autolies isn't to be trusted any further than you can throw a Unimog.

The next E isn't on the road in prototype form yet, nor would it be an exact clone of the new S-Class.

That is an S-Class pic from sometime ago, doesn't matter when the article itself was dated.
